I was wondering if the following hardware configuration (for a Dell Optiplex 790) would work for Dolphin. I am only interested in whether the games will run at 1x resolution at full speed:
- Intel Core i7-2600 3.4Ghz
- 8GB DDR3 RAM
- Intel HD Graphics 2000

The CPU should be okay (even if it can't be over clocked, it's not too old and slow), but I'm not sure the HD2000 is supported. Well, I think that even if it were supported, it wouldn't be able to handle 1x IR without causing slowdowns... (Please correct me if I'm wrong)
Your CPU is fine.
Your GPU is not. I don't even think it'll run okay at 1x internal resolution. If you can afford any GPU or have a spare lying around, it'll work a lot better.
Thanks, is there any GPUs that you would recommend? I would need to look for a PCIe x16.
Does your power supply have a 6 or 8 pin PCI-E plug?

It's a crappy PSU . So there won't be many choice for him
A low profile GTX 750 (non Ti) is probably the strongest GPU his PSU can handle . GTX 750 (non TI) doesn't need 6/8 pin connector
75W is too much for his PSU
CPU alone eats 95W , 50W for mobo and other components . There is not much room left for a GPU
His PSU is not rated as 80Plus Gold or sth like that . Therefore , it won't deliver near the max 240W , more likely between 170->190W (70->80 efficiency)
Not to mention , PSU will degrade over time .
GTX 750 low profile (probably less than 55W) is a little bit too much already
So it looks like the main limiting factor here is the PSU. I managed to find a full tower with the same components (looking for a used one), the only difference is the hard drive is larger and that it has an included GPU (AMD Radeon HD 6350). Is that good enough? Or would the GTX 750 like you said be better?
The GTX 750 is much better.
If you can build your own PC, that'd be cheaper and better than buying used, pre-assembled PCs.
