Can my PC run Xenoblade Chronicles

G3258@4.20 Hz
8gb ram
hd5770 1gb
Win 7 64 bit
Sure , you can run most games full speed with that CPU
If you had a DX12 gfx card and Windows 10x 64 installed (to use Direct3d12 backend), that would be even better
There's probably nothing in Dolphin you can't run with that build, except maybe Rogue Squadron, but that would be solved by just overclocking higher.

I have an HTPC with a G3258 that I got to 4.6 ghz. Runs everything. @_@

Super Mario Galaxy might be a bit iffy on that GPU because it's one of the more GPU reliant games in Dolphin, but like admin89 said, the D3D12 backend that you can use with Windows 10 takes away a lot of work from the GPU emulation thread, which your 5770 would appreciate.
So which computer components would benefit from an upgrade to Windows 10 (yikes!) and the D3D12 backend? The CPU, the GPU, or both? In asking because I have a weak CPU (q9650) holding me back, but my GPU (gtx750ti) should be fine. I don't want to upgrade to W10 if it's not going to have a real impact on the speed of my emulation.
Cheers, Oi
Both . DX12 reduces GPU's workload and power consumption by 50% . DX12 also supports multithreading (CPU side)

You will see 50-60% performance boost in Dolphin !

Wow, that's fantastic! I guess I have to take the plunge and upgrade then.
Oi
Nitpicking, but those numbers admin89 (and by extension that article) threw out are hardly real world applicable. Workloads are often very very different per application and Dolphin has one of the weirdest. We aren't a game engine. The same numbers don't apply to us in every case. Heck, there are some games that don't really benefit at all emulating with D3D12!

Fortunately, many of them do benefit.
D3D12 has a lower API overhead, so the CPU will be faster in emulating the GPU. It's only a bit faster than the NVidia OpenGL driver, but much faster compared to both D3D11 and AMD's OpenGL.

So it depends, a lot, on very random values...
