My game freezes after the "getting the deku tree's pearl" cutscene... I've tried a ton of stuff: tinkered with audio, no avail. Tried not using any "unnatural" save states, only used the memorycard - didn't work. From what I'm aware this is a really common problem. Anyone got a fix or a topic to redirect me to? :L

Also, to note: I had the same issue after the forsaken fortress cutscene, and somehow solved it after retrying the cutscene from a loadstate like 30 times... I don't know if I've simply been unlucky this time because I did the same thing with this cutscene, but yeah. Don't know if that helps with anything. :3

I'm also running dolphin 3.6-something, and alot of people are saying dolphin 3.0 is perf for wind waker, but to change to dolphin 3.0 i'd probably need help from the pros (you guys) to do so in order not to mess up all my progress. So yeah. Help... Sad

Also sorry mods, I posted this on the reply in the windwaker topic, but it seems that subforum is a ghosttown Tongue So I'm just gonna make a new topic here in the most popular subforum (which for some reason STILL barely gets any replies even though theres like 50 people online...)
Dolphin 3.0 is horribly, horribly old, and Dolphin 3.6-something doesn't even exist. (Did you mean 3.5-367?) Try the latest development version from https://dolphin-emu.org/download/ instead. There have been a lot of fixes for freezes and various things since the days of 3.0 and 3.5.
Yes, try the latest development builds. They might be slower, but they don't have to. But they will be more stable and the game shouldn't crash at all.

If you get graphical issues with the latest build, we need more info about your system, especially the gpu and its drivers.
Yeah, but I don't want to risk losing my game progress... I've clocked about 8 hours into it at this point... :|

Plus, lag is kind of a big issue to me. Right now, it's relatively smooth, runs at about 70-80% in high-data areas and in indoor sections / sections without much data it runs at 100%. When I tried the latest stable build (4.0.2) It's VERY slow and runs at 50% in the FIRST ISLAND. o.o So.... yeah. And also, don't know how to switch my game progress over there. Also, I don't want to get the development build because I don't want to install visual studio and 64 bit c++...

If anyone could help me with this I'll give them cookies and kisses!
You're running on Mac OSX, correct? You don't need to install Visual studio or anything.
You would only need to install things if you're on Windows, which in that case you only need the Visual C++ 2015 redistributable installer, which is a small pack of run-time files (not the full visual studio).

If you have a memory card save (not savestate), then all you need to do is copy the memory card into the new save location of the dev builds.

So definitely get the latest dev build downloaded, as it's way faster than 4.0.2 and 3.0/.5/367
The only way is to get the latest development build. No one is going to support a 3-4 years old version, which is known to have bugs.

The latest builds are faster and less intensive on the CPU, but more intensive on the GPU now because of accuracy improvements. And considering that OS X does not exactly have the best drivers (from what I've read on the forum), you may want to run Dolphin on Windows if you're using a Mac. It apparently works better on Windows than on OS X.

Also, please don't cross post.
Oh no, I'm running Bootcamp Windows 7 now. All the information on my profile is outdated. Thanks for the help guys! I'm going to try the stuff suggested and see if it works.

omggggg now visual studio wont install...pc y u do dis 3:<
"The development versions require the 64-bit Visual C++ redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 to be installed."

Okay, I finally got the latest devbuild of Dolphin working. Problem is it literally runs at 5 FPS. I'm running Windows 7 on a Bootcamp mac (4 GB Ram, etc.) in Dolphin 4.0-9224 (the latest build). Send help! Sad

Also I found this video on speeding up windwaker on Dolphin 4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-fQC9wOZao but when I click on the GZLE01 file in GameSettings it just shows cheats and no option to change audio to HLE (apparently this settings overridden in some file for some reason and it makes the game way slower)

Contemplating taking an hour to finish the deku tree cutscene just so I can get past the point of freezing so I can get a non-single digit FPS rate. (It's running at 2 FPS now. Oh joy, oh joy!)
If it runs at exactly 5 fps, then you should change the Speed Limit option in the main config window to 100% (Normal Speed); if you had it on "audio" before, then that value is now the lowest option in the drop-down menu.
