UPDATE
I've finished this project to the best of my abilities and to my satisfaction. The final download is here:
Final Version Download Link

This is my first texture pack. My intention was to clean up UI elements but leave the environments and Pokémon alone. Check out my follow up posts for screenshots from development. At that download link is also the source PSD files I used. If you want to build from this, go ahead.
OMG yes!!

That's better!
I've updated the pack with a bunch of new textures. You can download it from the original link or just you can get a feel for it in the attached screenshots. It's incomplete but it's starting to come together.

I've had some troubles with textures not fitting together properly. Since almost everything on N64 is compiled of many smaller textures this is just a problem I'm constantly running into. They look great in photoshop but then they look weird on the screen.

I also can't find any way to make the game's font good.

Any tips?
Beta Download

I finally created new button icons for all the items so I'm upgrading from alpha to beta. A lot of glaring errors were fixed in this version.

The next big milestone is redrawing Oak in HD. That'll be a fun one.

I'd love some feedback, so please give my pack a shot. If you want to really dig in, I've uploaded a zip file with all my PSDs so you can check that out too.
And now a demo:

Using upscaling filters, even Waifu2x is a bit lame for these fort of things, but redrawing him in vector would take me weeks. I'm sure a more talented artist could do it in hours, but I'm not even sure if he'll display properly once upscaled anyway.
Looks good to me!
As you can see from the attached screenshots, this update implements my Oak upscale, fixes the hal logo text, adds the last of the levels in the menu, and has new graphics for the title screen logo and the film canister. See the link in the original post for the download.

This might be my final release. I feel like I've learned a lot, but next time I won't skin an N64 game. The remaining issues (fonts and misaligned textures) aren't fixable as far as I can tell.
Oh, this still hasn't been moved to the texture packs area? I'll do that now!

Great work on the UI elements! May I ask why you were not interested in updating the environments?
