Hello!
After lurking here for years, silently bemoaning the lack of an HD texture pack for Pikmin, here's my first attempt to make my own.
Please note that this is for the Gamecube version, not Wii!

Level 1 starts to look ok now, and I'm just starting work on level 2. I've gone over a few HUD elements but most are still undone. This is a side project so it may take a long time to finish it, but any feedback is most welcome since this is my first try at retexturing. Most base textures are either from my own photo collection or from free texture sites. Enjoy!

Note that this texture pack contains 4k and even 8k textures, and will likely cause stuttering unless you have loads of RAM.

Progress:

Level 1 - The Impact Site:      80%
Level 2 - The Forest of Hope: 10%
Level 3 - The Forest Navel:    0%
Level 4 - The Distant Spring:  0%
Level 5 - The Final Trial         0%
Front-End:                            10%
HUD:                                   10%

Comparison screenshots:
Is it for the New Play Control or GameCube version? Also, is it for NTSC-U or PAL?
Looks quite good.

Can't answer the first part of your post, but for the second question, it doesn't matter. Games often use the same textures across regions, so you would simply need to use the three letter game ID (for the texture pack directory name) to make it work for all regions.

EDIT: this is true only in recent development builds (after January 2016); more precisely, after 4.0-8583, after PR#3456 was merged
New Play Control is the Wii release, which uses the code R9I instead of GPI.

Yea, I know textures are across regions, but some textures might not work for both regions, which often is with the HUD and fonts.

Oops, it's for the Gamecube version! (OP edited!)
I've been working with the PAL version, but it should work fine on NTSC as well.
Just a tip: Dolphin comes with a built-in screenshot button, so there's no need to screencap your entire desktop when making comparison shots.
@OP, it would be a good idea to update your dolphin version to the latest dev build for the best speed and accuracy when dumping textures. It'll make your life easier
Great stuff! With a little renaming, it works for Pikmin 2 as well!
Awesome! Just today I decided to play the game for the first time, and after the first mission I was wondering if there were a texture pack (I hadn't seen this thread). I'm now downloading it and then I'll try it Smile. Thank you.

Edit: downloaded. By the way, I recommend you to organize textures in subfolders. For now they are just 63, but when there are more, it will help.
Edit 2: with OptiPNG, the uncompressed size of the textures folder is 332MB. If you use it for new updates, you will save some upload time.
Looking good i'll try it when I get home.
