It's actually the first rule of the Dolphin forums, don't talk about pirating any type of copyrighted material. We don't want Dolphin to get a reputation of promoting piracy, which keeps us out of any possible legal trouble with Nintendo.

No it's not. After the first year of release the free upgrade from 7/8/8.1 will go away.

It's free for anyone who upgrades within the first year. No extra charges will be incurred after one year for everyone who upgraded, but anyone who did not will have to pay for an upgrade
