There is a workaround (not solution) for speed.
Enable Dual-Core mode, then depending on the game use Frameskipping or Watchdog, i haven't tested frameskipping recently so i don't know if it works with D3D plugin, surely does with OGL.
Have you tried auto-scale setting? It might help with the viewport being misplaced.
