Yes, I know, it's so hard to believe that people actually use anything other than Windows. Next thing you know, English won't be only language everyone speaks /s
But seriously, if the source never gets released, you get stuck with binaries that are platform specific, and for an emulator that's bound to be incredibly popular, that's just uncool.
Heaven forbid there's ever a day when later versions of Windows simply make Cemu incompatible; we've already seen hiccups with Windows 10 in limited cases with other emus. Keep adding more years, and the problem doesn't get any better. This would be an issue if Cemu is ever abandoned. I know the dev has said the source would be released if the project got to that point, but how solid of a promise is that? People on the internet can just up and disappear with their work. Would rather have the source now; it doesn't hurt anyone and takes minimal effort.
This is amazing! I can't believe that we're getting 3DS and Wii U emulators to run commercial games so soon!
However, I have just one question: How will the Gamepad screen and other functions be emulated without a real Gamepad?
There's an OS that can have multiple windows open that came out 30 years ago. I forget the name though. Too bad it didn't take off.
isn't it possible to buy a gamepad and connect it via bluetooth? cause it's possible with the wii remote actually

My thoughts exactly. It just doesn't make any sense as to why Exzap is keeping it closed source. And we know all too well that anything that's closed source ends up becoming abandoned and never continuing. And it makes me wonder, just how on Earth did he manage to create so much compatibility within a short amount of time with Cemu? Is he using code from Decaf? Or could it be that he works for a big corporation with tens of thousands of developers? Or could he be secretly working with Nintendo and using code from the SDKs for the Wii U? We may never know.
We just know something just doesn't sound right, I'm sure he's hiding something from us.
Either way, Decaf will be the future of Wii U emulation, not Cemu.

True, but I'm saying how they'd emulate it for those who don't have a Bluetooth connector thing. I mean, they can emulate Wii remote capabilities in Dolphin without an actual Wii remote (even if it is quite crappy), so...
AFAIK Wii U gamepad report its buttons state through Bluetooth but all audio/video features goes through a custom (low latency?) WiFi Direct connection...
There's already a working emulator for the WiiU gamepad called DRC-sim, so there's no need to reinvent the wheel. However, I've been unable to find enough documentation when I've tried looking in order to get it working - it links to another project called Lib-DRC, and says to follow their documentation, but that project's for connecting things to the gamepad, not connecting things to the WiiU.

Exzap is probably... just a really good coder. It's not like the Wii U was a complete black-box full of mysterious mysteries before Cemu came onto the scene. There was a decent amount of documentation to go off of, so as soon as the Wii U launched, someone could have easily started the groundwork (CPU, memory, etc). Keep building on that, hacking and reverse engineering, and in a year's time, you might have just enough to get where Cemu is now. I'd wager there's probably a fair bit of High-Level Emulation taking place in certain parts; "modern" game systems tend to favor this emulation approach in a number of circumstances.
Well I'm pretty sure that by the time Cemu matures enough they will probably be WiiU to USB gamepad knockoffs selling over the internet, much just like any other gamepad to USB knockoff not to mention even wireless ones. And emulating the gamepad screen would be simply on the monitor not on the gamepad itself I suppose.
