I was thinking maybe some time in the future when I finally read up enough on emulation, I may work on a Wii U emulator, but that train has began rolling and I'm still busy programming other stuff. Maybe Nintendo NX then...
Why do you have to start an emulator? You can always work on the open source wiiu emulator.

As for almost every open source emulator

He's even contributed to mine (which is pretty obscure at the moment)

As everyone knows, Cemu is a closed source Wii U emulator, which I was quite disappointed about. And it makes me think, why on Earth would Exzap develop a Wii U emulator closed-source?
Is Exzap trying to hide something dark from us? Something just isn't right about making an emulator closed-source in the modern era. So I decided to message him on the forums and he replied by saying this:
And I honestly don't really believe anything he said to me. 'Cause it really just doesn't make any sense to have a project closed-source just for developers to be "much more acknowledged and have more incentive to work on the emulator".
Besides, he is wrong about Xenia emulator being worked on by one person, it's made by multiple people and is an open-source project. And honestly... it would never really achieve so much progress on a Wii U emulator if it's just being developed by one person alone. It would take several years. And this is why we have open-source projects on big consoles, like the Wii and GameCube for example. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember back in the days of when I first got Dolphin (which was back in the days it was still closed-source), it really couldn't play much in the way of games, nor did it have any sound. But as soon as Dolphin became open-source, games suddenly all had more compatibility and had sound. And not to also mention, Wii emulation became available on Dolphin too.
I'm sure an open-source Wii U emulator will emerge, and I'm pretty sure I can already see progress with the wiiu-emu research project (which is open-source). We can just simply forget about Exzap's Cemu, it's a project that I don't really see anything positive about.
Is this guy being serious?
If he is still actively developing it, why the hell should open sourcing it halt development? It makes no sense at all.
Something is very wrong here. I bet it's doing something fishy.
I've been reading up on it on gbatemp. Neobrain mentioned there was no code being used from other open sourced projects in the binary.
Also there is now a subreddit apparently. XD

Damn right something's wrong and fishy, I can feel it in my bones that something is not right with that project.
I tend to stay away from closed-sourced projects these days and Exzap's reply only strengthened that feeling.
I'd say stay as far away from Cemu as possible and look forward to wiiu-emu from exjam instead, at least it's open sourced with the cards shown on the table.
Looking at his point of view, he's either wanting to take full on credit of the project and be popular or has something fishy going on. Don't most projects start out closed source then go open? At least the popular ones?
