About CEMU:

Seriously, I can't understand this either. Vulkan is so much better than Ogl, especially for AMD users. When I asked on the official subreddit, but they just told me "he's not going to completely rewrite the emulator"
Well, if it was OPEN SOURCE then MAYBE SOMEONE would be MOTIVATED to write a vulkan backend.

i like the way you think
So 2 years after, CemU has become a big cash machine where the devs make thousands of bucks per months, it actually now plays games, and Decaf is dead.
Probably won't stay that way forever.

No commits since 2 weeks really isn't dead, just stagnant. Not uncommon for devs to keep commits stored locally for a while before pushing them (sometimes I wait a couple of days), so there could be stuff happening behind the scenes. Going a couple of months or half a year would be more indicative of a problem. But people have lives outside of emulator development, and sometimes progress isn't a constant stream.

Even if Decaf was abandoned as a project, doesn't mean we'll never see another capable Wii U emulator, or one that's FOSS. There are always breakthroughs later down the road (e.g. Saturn and NDS emulation recently).
One of the main purpose of emulators is to show how the machine works, in order to share the knowledge and be able to reproduce it for future OSes for the sake of preservation. CEmu fails miserably on this task.

If CEmu team decides to stop the project (or die or whatever) but there's still emulation issues, and won't work on Windows 12 because of compatibility issues, all this will be absolutely pointless because no one would be able to enhance it. Not only a closed source project is not sustainable, but it also useless for information sharing.

Edit : To be clear, I only speak about emulators. Having a closed source software is not a shame as it.

They don't even produce documentation like no$gba does. Even if all of the no$ emulators are closed-source, you'll see Martin Korth (aka nocash) floating around forums, reverse-engineering stuff, and posting his findings publicly. Although it's not 100% accurate, GBATEK is the definitive manual for people writing GBA/NDS emulators. I always talk about nocash and documentation, but that's really because it's a great example to follow for all emulation projects: contribute back to the knowledge base.

its more this that i have issues with then it being open source actually. there is no open information. it being documentation or source code
It really upsets me that decaf hasn't seen any commits in nearly 3 weeks.
Always baffles me all the people who want to work on cemu and volunteer to help, but refuse to work on decaf...
