I just can't see how anyone would knock PCSX2 for "using lots of hacks". AFAIK PS2 hardware is so convoluted there's no way to make an "accurate" emulator
that runs on 201x hardware. Someone wants an emulator that will be capable of running at playable framerates in 2030 or later? Meh.

I guess it's cool that GPU's are getting better at taking over some of these features with OpenGL 4.5 (etc) though.

I can't blame the OP for asking Dolphin devs to work on PCSX2 though. You guys are the best in the business Wink

Then why does Higan have higher accuracy than Dolphin?  Dodgy
cause SNES is a heck of a lot easier to emulate?
That's because nowadays CPUs have enough processing power so coding a cycle-accurate SNES emulator makes sense.
Making a playable cycle-accurate GameCube emulator in 2015 is a suicide mission. Nevertheless, Dolphin have one of the best performance/accuracy ratio of 3D consoles emulators.
I remember that back to 2.0, Dolphin was a hacky emulator, and then the devs began to focus on accuracy.
So do PCSX2 have to be rewritten from scratch? Maybe yes, or maybe some portions, like Dolphin did (AX HLE), I don't have enough knowledge to judge that. Even if PCSX2 situation is different from Dolphin 2.0, and PS2 is a very complex machine to emulate, It seems that PCSX2 devs tend to focus accuracy now, it's cool and I encourage them.
Dolphin was inaccurate/hacked together for many years, so I don't see how you can call psx2 devs "bad" for it being inaccurate a while longer, without comparing the amount of people working on the emulators, and how difficult it is to achieve. There are N64 emulators who haven't even gotten their rendering right yet, Dolphin is more like an exception than the norm.
There are parts of Dolphin that are still really old and really ugly. There are tons of hacks and little things being weeded out every few weeks still.

you do realize that the PS2 is way more complex than most of the normal consoles, right ? there are problems in GS hardware rendering because of the fact that the GS handles the functions in quite a unique manner compared to Standard GPU. hence fixed function needs to be replaced with shader based functions ( example: GS blending unit which is quite different from normal GPU Blending unit). this could all be easily fixed by emulating the fixed functions of the GS (which have strange behavior with respect to GPU) and also the GS memory format which would be a lot more accurate in expense of you enjoying a dead slow speed :p

Honestly, try to give some credit (or) respect to the guys who have managed to code a software and share it open source with everyone. the coders are doing this out of their precious free time, your statements do not actually give any factual insight on the parts which could be made better by rewriting the parts. I'd personally not try to waste my time anymore, see ya !

Is it really? I was always told that, between the PS2, GCN, and original Xbox, the PS2 had the weakest technology.

Then again, I have no idea about how the inner workings for consoles work the way they do, so...

Complex doesn't necessarily mean strong.
