It might not be a version problem, because it has happened to me ever since I tried the D3D plugin but anyway
I have been playing Metroid Prime, which is amazingly playable now with the new improved D3D plugin. I get constant 60 FPS in all the problematic areas and it plays great at 1080p
My problem is sometimes I can go hours without having the emu freeze, while others I play for 20 seconds and it freezes.
The image freezes, nothing works anymore except the sound, it continues to work on the last loop. Now don't say it's my PC because I can just press ESC and the emulator closes fine. Everything else is working, so it's really emulator problem.
Any ideas on what may be causing this? D3D plugin that needs improvement? (Perhaps I should submit a ticket), or some other Dolphin setting that might be causing this?
I am playing with every General setting on (Unlimted Jit, Dual Core, and every other improvement)
No Frameskip
mp1 is kinda problematic with d3d with all of the rand crashes..try enabling tlb hack...it can help also you cant scan with it otherwise it crashes because there is no
safe texture cache option like open gl
so until ppl figure out how to hack that with the d3d then mp1 will be a problem for awhile

I have no visor crashes. And there is a Safe Texture Cache option for D3D
WTF they said tht they wouldnt hav one for a while like a month ago wtf!!!! lol omg i gotta try this sumtime soon...dam cpu getting formatted...lol
off topic
it could just be a bug in the d3d plugin...just wait a month and itll all be fine
"And there is a Safe Texture Cache option for D3D " Sry it isnt !, I have Rev 4269 and there is no Safe texture option for D3D ! Nowhere -_-

No you are the one who is wrong
There is
http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/source/detail?r=4250
Right click the game in the menu and enable it
Regardless of Safe Texture Cache, this is still an issue. The game just freezes at random. Not sure when this started happening, but it is NOT limited to D3D. The game music still plays, but after about 10 seconds of it frozen it starts to loop. I think eventually dolphin crashes as well, but not sure about that.
This is NOT an issue in MP2 or 3 to my knowledge. I thought it was just a random dolphin thing the first time I saw it happen, but then I played more and it kept happening. It can happen at nearly any time, I've had it freeze before I could even get to the press start screen at the main menu.
This post is also in the wrong forum, it should be in the Support forum.

Ah so this happens with the OpenGL as well?
I never had this problem before, so yes, something might have changed to cause this problem.
I have the same issue. HD4870x2 with q6600 3.6
I would really love to know what's causing this... It doesn't seem to be any setting that's causing it...
you don't get anything, no panic handler, no dolphin error, just freezes, music continues for a bit (I guess to complete the queue it has built up) and then eventually loops back to the last queue beginning point, and eventually it crashes with a generic windows error... "Dolphin has stopped working".
I haven't done any debugging as that's all pretty foreign to me still. I'm still working on learning the code, so that I can be somewhat helpful to the project. I'm wondering if there were any changes to the ISOProperties recently that might affect it's handling the rom image that might be causing this... That's my best guess... I'm going to keep trying older versions until I find the first revision that caused this problem, then look at the code changes at that revision and see where it could be hanging up at... It would be helpful if I had a starting point... When was the last revision you guys remember it not doing this on?
