Why doesn't this site default "max-width: 100%;" for images? That way, if somebody posts a screenshot or something, it won't break the page to scrolling horizontally.

Actually, you might well have a point there. It can be pretty annoying when other posts are stretched off the side of my screen.

MyBB is already capable of it for things like avatars, and image resizing.


So it might just be simple as tweaking CSS for the img tag?

Well this feedback section of the forums is absolutely pointless.

I know this probably is not the greatest solution, but could you not just put really huge, potentially page-breaking images in appropriately labeled spoiler tags, so that they do not immediately break the page upon loading? That would be my crude solution. And you would also (I think) be able to put multiple images in a single spoiler tag.

Usually the mods will spoilerise large images, but it's still a nuisance if you forget to collapse the spoiler and realise that every post after it is borked, and then have to scroll back up again.

Still, I would think that is somewhat better (or at least not as bad) as having the page stretched excessively with no way to reverse the effect.

Hope nobody minds the bump, but I figured this particular sub-forum doesn't receive too much activity, so it wouldn't hurt to post here again. I just wanted to say that I thought of another (albeit obvious) method of avoiding stretched browser pages from huge images. That option is disabling images from showing in posts, in user settings on the Control Panel. Of course, that means no images will be shown on the page at all, but if you are trying to read a thread with a lot of huge images, it could be handy.
