you should be fine but why going with single channel memory.? are you planning on adding another 8GB module in near future.?

perhaps, not sure if I want 8gb or 16gb

Yeah, that'll work for most games. You'll still get framedrops in games that dolphin struggles with in general.

I would recommend x2 4 GB sticks rather than x1 8 GB though.

the 960x is overkill
