well, usually you save things on physical hard drive space. those tablets have expandable memory anyway iirc so it's not a big deal
With android M adding true expandable memory support,  the shield wins.  Easy 128Gb of space.  Good luck storing GameCube Roma on the nexus 9's meager 20Gb of free space.  Plus the shoddy build quality,  lack of desktop OpenGL support,  and the lack of the SHIELD advantage with those exclusive games and gaming oriented features.
The Nvidia Shields totally in favor as of now, also as for the 7.5GB of available storage left its actually 8.6GB http://www.faqssys.info/how-much-usable-storage-space-does-the-16gb-nexus-9-have/ available which is still less than my last tablet, but seeing how the Nexus can play dolphin games better than the shield is something that I really love seeing, but I love playing PC/Console games better and the shield has that from the start.

Also did you preorder or buy the nexus when it first came out?
i had a bad experience with the nvidia shield tv when i got it and tried dolphin. never worked, graphics bugs, always crashed. android emulation has hit a stand still. some emulators, specifically for the n64 haven't been updated in a year and lots of reviews complain of crashing. i may just go with a steam machine and just use that as an emulation/streaming device for now. may cost more, but atleast itll be alot less buggy.
Would any of the galaxy note or galaxy tabs be good for everyday things or dolphin/gaming?

It is a big deal, because if you actually read the thread the Nexus 9 does not support external storage.

That may have been true when the Nexus 9 came out but is no longer the case after the latest (5.1.1) update. But go ahead and believe some random website instead of someone who actually owns the tablet if you want to...

Damn thats really sad...did you buy the nexus when it first came out or was it after HTC/Google sent out the new models that fixed the issues the first batch had(Bleeding, mushiness etc)?
Its not just the website btw its also some review videos appeared to have showcased the amount of space left but if its before the 5.1 update then the nexus is not worth getting, tbh I just really want something that can run dolphin well amongst other things and considering the theres only 4 tegra k1 devices and the other 2 being out of reach while the shield has sound issues when running games vs the nexus as it seems while watching these game tests on youtube the nexus seems like a good choice but with only 7.5GB left of storage what the hell is google thinking?
Did you buy the Nexus 9 when it first came out of after Google sent out the second batch of tablets that didnt have no manufacturing errors(screen bleeding, back sinking etc...)?
Also it was also review videos showing the 16GB version have around 8.5GB of storage left when first out of the box but if it takes a whole GB of space from the 5.1 update then imagine how much the android M update takes up...I only wanted a tablet that can run dolphin games at playable speeds and since theres only 4 tegra k1 devices with the other 2 being too much and out of reach, the Shield and Nexus seem like good choices but based on me viewing dolphin being played on both devices the shield has much more buggier sound issues than the Nexus so thats what really sparked my interest...but if 7.5GB is all thats left then WTF google?
There was no "second batch of tablets", they're still shipping the same hardware with the same issues.
