I'm trying to use a GC controller via the Mayflash WiiU/PC adapter on my Debian system. I've created a
udev rule to set the controller device's permissions, but Dolphin still won't recognize it. What should I try next to troubleshoot this?
Dolphin version: 4.0+git6490-0ubuntu1~vivid
did you get the drivers from the mayflash website?

Which drivers are you referring to?
http://mayflash.com/Support/Download/
this site should have the firmware you need for that adapter, although i don't know that Mayflash adapters have ubuntu/debian support. if it doesn't happen to have support, i would just dual-boot Windows and boot in that whenever you want to play Dolphin

Now I'm just confused. Are we talking about a "driver" that runs on the host machine, or "firmware" that runs on the adapter itself? I thought drivers weren't necessary thanks to Dolphin's direct connect feature, and why would a USB adapter need different firmwares for different hosts?
i misspoke about the driver, i meant the firmware from mayflash. a common issue is that people forget to download the firmware with the product. it still might not be supported in debian, i would try it in windows

I don't have Windows and have no desire to install it. But why would this adapter need different firmwares for different hosts? I'm running it in WiiU mode anyway, since apparently that's what you're supposed to use with Dolphin's direct connect.
Getting back to my original question, does Dolphin have any debugging features that would let me see what it's doing when it tries to detect a GC controller?
Or if somebody could point me to the source code that's responsible for detecting GC controllers, I could maybe take it from there.
