So here is the scenario... Im running windows server 2008 witch is based off of windows vista and shares its kernel. i got 2 xeon x5690's witch means i have 12 cores @ 3.5ghz usable by the system, hyper threading puts me at 24 and i know the extra threads are pathetic and only give you like 10% of the power. will that harm my performance with this along will other applications with poor thread optimization? im just worried the slow logical cores will hold my system back.or can windows know to keep intense applications on the physical cores?
Dolphin runs fine in most hyperthreading situations. The reason you would be getting slowdowns is because your CPU is 4 generations behind Intel's latest architecture.

You have a high clock speed, so it should be able to play most games near or at fullspeed. The only way to truly know is use the latest dev build and try it out for yourself.
