If you can get a MSI or ASUS R9 270 non-X for a lower price, that would be the best deal.
You can then overclock it to an almost R9 280 level of performance while still having less power consumption and noise than the 270X.
Nvidia cards have better support for driver in Linux. AMD has better open-source drivers (not at the level of Windows) because the drivers from AMD aren't great

Btw Nvidia GTX 750 , AMD HD 7750 , AMD HD 6670 don't require a high power supply ,  70% efficiency (20A or higher A on 12V+- rail) 300W PSU will run 'em fine

Hello, Ive just understood why this info is CAPITAL .

Now I would like to buy a second hand GTX 570 at a wonderful price : about 40 euros ! The problem is I have a 350 W PSU and that is not suitable for it. I have 3x 450 W PSU, that is not sufficient because I need 550 W PSU but I dont know whether the CPU and motherboeard are counted in the requirement. I 've seen the card uses max 220 W. Could I stay with 330W for CPU/motherboard and use a 450W for only graphic card. Id like to point out that I have plenty of 600W PSU for server but the voltage is 12V/6V. WHat is the voltage for this card ? I cant find this info in the data sheet. thx
Hello everybody !

Ive just bought a GTX 560 Ti, I plug it on the PCI 2.0 slot, then I plug the 6-PIN. Here I have a problem because I only have one 6-pin on my Xilence 450W PSU. SO I added 2x450W PSU and I bridged the second one to let it always on.

When I started the computer i installed the nvidia drivers for linux --> did not work... , Next I autoremoved the drives and tried with nvidia 331 andoptimus to switch VGA/GTX. but ... nothing ! WHen I check with sysinfo I can't see the card, only the motherboard inclued graphic card...

Then I flash and upgrade the bios but its stil the same.

Is the PSU not enough ? I don't think so because its written 28 A for the 3.3v -> 2x3.3x28 = 184 W and the maximum use for the card is 170 W. A 500W PSU is necaissairy according to nvidia but the seller and other peaople on the internet told me that is just marketing. He personally used a 350 or 400W and it worked well according to him.

What do I have to do now ?

thx in advance,

Dr:Methyl
Is that card working at all ? I mean you sure not bought a fake card from china or sth
I would stay away from Fermi (400 and 500 series) if I was you . Those things run really hot (yeah I bought one ,that's why I know) , consume a lot of power and not that strong anyway .
Maxwell is much better .
