I'm kinda new at this but here goes. so I downloaded your kext and I have the very latest version of dolphin, my mac is version 10.11.2, I have the may flash 4 port adapter, but for some unexplainable reason I still don't get the direct connect button to even appear when I plug in my adapter. by the way it works fine if I set it up manually, but it only reads the first port, all other ports are controlled by port one. so how do i get the direct connect to appear?

Direct Connect only existed as an option in older versions of Dolphin. In the newest version, you instead select GameCube Adapter for Wii U in the dropdown for the controllers you want to use.

thanks, but when I tried to run it through the Gamecube Adapter for Wii U it doesn't register the controller but it does register only the first port when I use standard controller and the dropdown for may flash adapter. any suggestions? also it says adapter not found or connected when I which from standard controller to the Wii U adapter mode in dolphin.

Hey Guys,

I also tried to get my GC controller to work but I'm kinda lost and maybe you can help. I'm running Dolphin version 4.0-6027 on a Macbook with El Capitan version 10.11.4 and I'm using the original WiiU adapter. I also installed the .kext from the SmashEnabler package but somehow Dolphin doesn't seem to detect the controller. I'll also provide a screenshot of my terminal output when checking for the adapter.

Note: I also tried the latest Dolphin version (4.0-9177) before but also couldn't get the controller to work. I downgraded because the newer version doesn't seem to have the "GameCube Adapter" checkbox that was mentioned earlier here. However the checkbox is greyed out saying "Adapter not detected"

Hey there. I'm having issues on El Capitan (10.11.4) as well. I'm wanting to play Melee netplay and so I've got Dolphin version 4.0-7840. I put in the Terminal command and then disabled kext signing. Dolphin isn't detecting anything. Unplugged, replugged back in, nothing. Restarted, nothing. It's telling me there's no adapter detected. Dunno why it's doing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Nvm, I figured it out. I believe it was the order I had done it in. Not positive, but I unplugged the adapter, quit Dolphin, then plugged the adapter back in and started back up Dolphin in that order. Feel a little stupid, but if anyone else has this issue, thought I'd document it just in case.

Hey, I'm having some issues of my own. I'm on El Capitan 10.11.4 and I installed the drivers using the package but it doesn't show up in my extensions nor do I have the direct input box. However, it affects my controllers in that I can use them but the stick is messed up so that I can't move it all the way (I think it has something to do with a radius thing). I was on an older version but I switched to the newest and it still does not work. Before, it was sensing the controller but only one port was working. Any idea on the problem? Thanks.

Edit: Haha never mind, I'm just an idiot that didn't realize it was set to pc.

I'm not here to report any issues or frustrations. In fact, just the opposite: I just wanted to say that this kernel extension has performed way beyond my expectations (and maybe even yours?)! Thank you so much!

Before I explain, I'll just establish my specs: Running OSX 10.11.6 on a Macbook Pro. Dolphin 5.0, using the Mayflash 2-port WiiU/PC adapter, and a wired gamecube controller.

So after I realized I was supposed to actually use the adapter controller setting on Dolphin 5.0, the controller worked splendidly for playing Brawl (set to the WiiU mode of course). No surprise there.

But then, even though I had read that it wasn't supposed to work with anything else, I decided to try just to be sure. I had actually bought this adapter to be try to use my gamecube controller to do general computer navigation, and ideally even to control music production software, so I'd been searching hard for a workaround. I opened up the preferences for my device mapping plug-in 'USB Overdrive' (great freeware for mapping mice, keyboards, what-have-you in all sorts of ways) and... nothing happened.

But then, I switched the adapter to PC mode, and that's when the magic happened. USB Overdrive recognized the controller, identifying the device as a Mayflash adapter in its drop-down menu, and registered every single type of button event the controller was capable of (even the lightly pressed short duration toggle/long duration switch alternatives on the L/R bumpers, and all 8 directions on the analog pad). It allowed me to use the left joystick to navigate smoothly around the screen with the mouse (a USB Overdrive feature for gamepads), to set up scrolling (choppy but functional) with the C-stick, and to configure separate mappings for different applications. I was (and still am) absolutely delighted.

Then I thought that maybe I was an idiot and the controller would have registered with USB Overdrive from the start if I had just switched it to PC mode. So I deleted the kernel extension to check, and lo and behold, it didn't work anymore. Reinstalled and I'm all good again.

The curious thing worth mentioning is that, though i tried plugging the adapter directly in to my laptop, to a USB 2.0 hub, and to a USB 3.0 hub, USB Overdrive only was able to take full control of it when it was plugged into the 3.0 hub (though it did register the button presses from the other two). This seems really strange, so maybe I missed something, but just thought it was worth mentioning.

SO YEAH THIS IS AWESOME! Let me know if you want more details.
The behavior you're describing makes sense.

Remember that this .kext is only meant to enable connection with Nintendo's proprietary Wii U adapter protocol.. Any 'PC' modes will be dropped by the .kext ('PC' really means the USB-HID stack in your OS is being used, same as a Logitech gamepad or something).

Since the official Nintendo-branded adapter has no 'PC' mode, hybrid adapters are out of the scope of this .kext's support. This means that only applications that are specifically made to speak Nintendo's protocol (such as Dolphin) will work, assuming only one instance is running (additional app instances won't be able to attach)

I can confirm this works. Thanks very much.

Hi I have a similar problem. I've got the newest version of Dolphin 5.0. I can't use my gamecube adaptor on my macbook pro for some reason. Melee works fine if I use my keyboard, but I can't use my gamecube controller. I have a wii u adaptor and have gone on the wiki page and followed all the instructions to a T. It just won't work, I've redownloaded everything twice. Dolphin, Melee, but it still won't work. I can't press buttons even though it says that the adaptor is connected. Any help you can give me at all would be much appreciated. I hope its something simple that you can help me with. Thanks I'm running El Capitan 10.11.6 on my macbook pro if any of that information helps.
