Hello there. I’m trying to upgrade my PC so that I can use Dolphin on great speed and performance. My current system specs are AMD 6000+ with 8 Gig of RAM and a 9800 GT with 1Gig of RAM. I WIN XP32, I tried to use Dolphin64 on Windows 7, 64Bit no luck I’m afraid. I was thinking of getting a phenom quad core, but before I do I need to know if this is the best option and if not what is? To make Dolphin run at it’s best.

Thanks in advance magmarock64
you wont get a huge speedup even if you buy newest phenom II with 3,2ghz.

if you want highest performance i recommend to buy a core 2 duo(or quad if you want one) and overclock it.

q9550 or E8400 would fit for that.

anyway, 6000+ is not slow so even new cpu + overclock wont give you monster speed. maybe +50% fps but not more.

I don't like the idea of overclocking theres got to be a way to speed this thing up. Why is it so slow anyway.
make sure that if you are using a dual-core / quadcore to turn on the option "enable dual core support"

you cant have a major speedup from your 6000+ if you dont want to overclock cause that cpu is allready pretty good.

well, take on a look on the sourcecode and make it faster. Good luck.
i have a 6000+ ,too and the speed is very fast and a dual core with 3 ghz isnt bad i become always 60 fps my games are pal version i think you dont need to overclock
did know everyone if some days get Triple core supportet? Cause i have a good PC wirth 2.2 Ghertz - with triple cored 6,.6 that will be work fine o.o.
audio will get its own thread, so yes triple core will be supportet some day.

still, you cant just add up the clock.

even if the audio will come to third core, emulation will still not be faster as cpu emulation is done with one core and that wont change.

you just wont get slowdown from audio.
HLE audio already is on its own thread but since HLE audio consumes like 1-2% of a core .. well, it doesn't make much difference.
lol, some days ago i said audio allready has its own thread as it is stated in developer guide, but someone of the devs told that it has not at the moment Tongue

i shoulnd't believe all that i read and verify myself Smile
