Using Dolphin 4.0

When I start the game it gives me an message saying that there is no memory card so the game can't be saved.

How do I create a save file that I can use the native in game saves to save to?

I have been using the Shift+F1 to create a save state but it has become corrupted and now I need to start the game over and want to be able to save properly.

I saw that I can click Tools>Memory card Manager but I don't see how to create a virtual memory card for Dolphin to save to. Attached is all I see in the MCM

I'd appreciate a quick step by step on what I am supposed to do. I did a forum search but could not find an answer, thanks.

Go to Config > GameCube. Set Slot A to GCI Folder (might not be available in your Dolphin version) or Memory Card.

I found some help in another post from a couple years back that worked:

"my documents"\Dolphin Emulator\Config\
open Dolphin.ini and remove the lines that start with
MemcardAPath
MemcardBPath
