Button activated codes might not work properly even if you do everything the right way and the version is correct.
Try run Gecko OS with Dolphin, and then run the game from there. This has a better cheats compatibility, but it is more for advanced users, because you need to create a virtual memory card.

What does LLE audio change in regards to Gecko cheats? Just curious and interested
