Yes the money we use in Europe ^^
no offense to you guys, but the information is all wrong. An i5 750 is a quad core clocked at 2.66ghz at a 210 usd pricepoint. I7 are eight threads and i5s are 4 threads. There is nothing bad about an i5 because there are decent motherboards at the 100 dollar price range. Performance is withing 10% clock for clock with an i7 920, sometimes even beating it! p57 has been canceled.
but who buys a cpu that has feature deactivated which can bring much more performance ?

Especially for that price and that low clock and the fact it doesn't even reach i7 speed per clock most times.(only with the higher turbo mode)

the dualcores are not that intresting for dolphin as the turbomode doesn't overclock 1 core as high as the quadcore do while being nearly as expensive.

the 860 should be around 150€ (180-200$ ?). that would be acceptable price compared to 955 and 965 phenom 2.

Yes that woul be a good price. I'd buy one if they were priced like that.

Here are the prices and specs by the way: http://www.guru3d.com/news/intel-core-i7-i5-and-i3-prices-and-specs-confirmed/

Anyways, will the i5 have a better speed clock to clock then the C2Q's?
for 100 dollars cheaper than i7 920 and it's great overclockability on air, it is fine. The only feature it's missing is ht.
Quote:great overclockability on air

compared to what ?
a 9550 or 920 ?

dont thought there were already trustworthy reports about overclockability.

i7 has about 10%-15% more speed per clock on average then c2q if you leave out the new SSE benches where only i7 has the instruction set for.

i5 will be bit less without ht and triple channel memory, maybe 5-10% faster per clock then c2q.

Hmm alright. The i5 will be out in like 4 days or so, I'll be waiting for some more gaming benchmarks and stuff before I buy my new PC. Otherwise I will buy a Phenom II 955 Black Edition.
at anandtech using a a matx mobo, he hit 4.3ghz on air.
Quote:the CPU we've tested here is pre-production silicon

means engineering sample.
those cpus always reached higher clockspeeds then retail cpus.

i'd discount at least a few hundred mhz for a cpu average joe buys.
So is it worth going for the i5 860 (example) instead of the AMD Phenom II 955 Black Edition speedwise on Dolphin?
