So I downloaded the latest stable and development build and kinda "merged them" together so to say. So I can have the default directory and what not.
Now I am currently trying to install controller texture for xenoblade (30fps PAL) here's what I did:
extracted the textures in a diff folder>headed to user/documents>dolphin emulator>load>textures>SX4J01 (<- made that folder myself) and I dumped the files there.
I then checked "dump textures" and "load custom textures" inside the dolphin OpenGL graphics config.
I ran the game and loaded to the first tutorial scene where you can finally interact.
and now i look at the top right corner and see the "z" icon when it supposed to be something else.
i ran it a couple of minutes ago and the only thing that loaded it in were the custom arrow keys for the controller. thats it..
would someone be kind enough and help me?

First of all, make sure your folders are case sensitive, as in Load>Textures, otherwise it may not work.
Second, don't have "dump textures" checked. That's something completely different than loading custom ones.
Also, you may need to set the Texture Cache to Safe or Fast depending on what textures you're using.

all are spelt correctly and i unchecked dump textures.
setting it to either fast or safe didnt really make any difference..
im trying to install simple controller textures and tutorial textures..

I think you are treading dangerous ground with this thread, however thats for the admins to decide.
In regards to your issue, you are clearly trying to mix and match. You cannot be surprised that it is not working. (SX4J01 is not 30fps PAL)

wait what did I do wrong?
am I not allowed to ask these types of questions?
I only merged them together because the dev build didnt provide the files located in my documents folder...
I patched the PAL version and now it shows that its the JP version. a youtuber also said that it changes the region when you patch it..

Huh? In what way...?

The 30 fps patch does change the title ID to SX4J01.

My apologies, I was thinking 30fps European version, and that being the Japanese version.
Yeah you're going to need to rename all the texture files with a batch renamer to their correct title ID.
Also, don't extract dev builds into the stable build folder, as that can cause issues. The save files and whatnot are saved in a global directory, so you can put the dev build anywhere you want and it will still load the same save files.

however when I installed the dev build I never had the folder located in user/documents/dolphin emulator
I'll just uninstall both builds and reinstall the dev build. hopefully ill get the folder this time.
