Yo peeps of the Dolphin forums!

So I upgraded from a 550ti to a R9 285 and I'm getting worse performance than I did with the 550ti. I understand my CPU is currently holding me back [Building an i5 machine to replace this outdated Phenom CPU] but my issue is a see about a 20-30% decrease in performance. I was expecting it to either stay the same (do to my CPU) or rise. Now I can barely play sunshine when I could play it at 140% speed. [runs at 85-100% now]

Is there an issue I'm not aware of? I understand that nVidia [referring to my old 550ti] is better for OpenGL but my card runs like scrap on both DX11 and OpenGL backends on my new AMD card.

My 550ti is like 1/3 as powerful as the R9 285 from my testing on video games especially at higher resolutions.

Not asking for help, just saiyan Tongue
Have you completely removed the Nvidia drivers (via driversweeper or the sort) and installed the most recent stable/beta AMD drivers?

Thank you for replying! No I didn't think of using software to remove the nVidia drivers/software. I will do so.

I have the most recent stable release. (I could try the beta drivers too just incase)

I'll see how driver sweeper goes and report back Wink
Use DDU instead (much better than DriverSweeper):

and check out the AMD/ATI GPU performance guide:

Thanks! Funny enough I actually used DDU before you said that. haha

I'll check out that performance guide! I looked at it before.

DDU seemed to have fixed DirectX as it's running at a little bit better performance than it did with my 550 ti. (CPU is limiting my performance.)

OpenGL isn't faring too well still. (Not worried about it, I assume it has something to do with nVidia running better with OpenGL.)
The 285 should run faster in both. Make sure your card isn't throttling to save power and adjust your driver settings accordingly.
Use the 'high performance mode' trick from the AMD GPU performance guide.
