I agree, that seems very likely. For a number of revisions, I've just been getting an "Aborted" message when compiling and booting Dolphin myself. GDB traced it to something libusb related iirc. Commented out a few lines in CMakeList.txt referring to libusb and everything worked just fine after recompiling.
Tried some of the newer builds now, but still nothing. So it's the waiting game now, huh?

Update your usb drivers to the latest version for your Mobo. I did that to resolve the same issue you are currently having.

Already updated my usb drivers. Tried the newer builds, too.
Now did some other fixes that were suggested on other threads, but still nothing. Cleaned my unused devices, tried specific builds.. this is really making me sad
