I have been using Raptr but it does not work with OGL does anyone have any suggestions on good recording software?
Have you tried dolphins dump frames setting?
Fraps works with both D3D and OGL.
does fraps give a big performance hit like it used to in the day?
You have an i7, so it shouldn't impact performance at all. Dolphin will run on 2 cores, while the Fraps load will be pushed to the third core.

I use fraps Tongue , but make sure to have a dedicated SSD for fraps (or, originally, I had a WD Raptor that ran at 10,000 rpm), because I always recorded at 1080p @ 60fps. This results in the bit-rate being very large, therefore you will need a fast drive to store the data. If you use a slower HDD, then you will notice that the game runs a lot slower (especially if you frap it with vsync), or the capture isn't as smooth.
you can use open broadcast software and record locally. it takes almost zero resources and it does an absolute excellent job.
Yeah I have open broadcast installed but I don't think I have good settings lol can't get things to look right. Guess I can look into fraps see how that goes.
As far as I know, Fraps is the best alternative period.
Any application that allows for custom codecs is way superior. Dxtory, MSI Afterburner, etc. Grab Lagarith or UT Codec for lossless recording and set it up if you want to use your CPU (or use x264 at a decent bitrate). Otherwise grab OpenEncode VFW if you have an AMD card.
