, no luck on the microcenter combo?
Nope. It (motherboard) hasn't been in stock all week. They have a Cosair 600W PSU with a $20 rebate too that is out of stock. Cheaper than Amazon and newegg but I don't think I can wait. Very frustrating.
I don't get how people spend $500-$600 and only end up with a dual cores and graphics from 3 years ago. I bought an i5 4690k $180, 1150 motherboard $80, amd 290 $170 check ebay when they were still in the $350 range, 600 watt evga power supply $60. I bought it for less than $500 and my system is 5 times more powerful. If you didn't buy the watercooler you could get yourself the i5. Clocked at 4.0ghz im at 40 degrees while gaming, 30 degrees idle that's no need for a watercooler. My cooler is $10 open boxed. I saved so much money I upgraded my monitor. Bought some 5.1 surround speakers. $500 dollars just so you can play dolphin it's not worth it. If I was building a system for dolphin it would be $200 max.

I'm not going to argue that I'm paying more than I should. I'm not savvy enough as I don't have any experience building machines. I might be able to get by without the watercooler. However, people that have it have been able to OC to 4.6Ghz. I'm hesitant to try overclocking to what I want with the stock cooler. Also, I don't know how you can get a decent Dolphin system for $200. Even if you got the Proc/MB combo from Microcenter, that is $100 right there. Wouldn't the case, memory, and PSU add up to more than $100? And you still need a GPU.

You sure about that? 750 Ti has slightly higher texture rate, but the 660 takes it when it comes to GFLOPS, pixel rate, memory bandwidth, and memory bus size. It also gets 11 more FPS in Crysis 3 according to AnandTech's DX11 benchmark. I'm also seeing several other sources saying that the 660 has better specs and provides better real world performance, including GeForce's own website.
...
Personally, I think for the price of that 660 it would be hard to beat without paying a fair chunk more.
You would be correct. I look at notebook GPUs too much, where the GTX 860M is better than my 770M, and I associated it straight to these cards. My bad, thanks for catching that

If you are building from scratch then yes it will be closer to $300. There are cases and power supplies for 20-30 dollars. Even cases that comes with power supplies. Me I don't use cases. I wouldn't pay 500 for a dual core with water cooling. There are better options. $100 for a new 660 is good though. For $500 this is what I would build an i7 4790k, z97 or a cheaper z87 board. Thats under $400. A power supply for around 50 dollars and a graphics card 50-100 dollars. You don't need a really expensive video card my brothers 650ti can play dolphin just fine. Memory 4 gig is enough. For 300 go for the dual core. But if it starts getting up there to 500 then I would just go ahead and get the i5/i7.

You underestimate the power of the build, plus it's good to go for a new CPU in the future without having to swap out anything else. Your i5 isn't that much more powerful for Dolphin, not when you consider that it costs literally 3 times as much. $200 wouldn't get you the kind of power this build has unless you buy nothing but used or refurbished parts. Some people prefer to buy new from reputable retailers.

Happens to the best of us haha, notebook GPUs do progress in a weird way compared to desktop GPUs though.
OP, I think you did a good job picking parts, your rig is going to destroy mine on everything but extreme multitasking

Do you think a 600W PSU is going to be enough? I used the website listed in the build guide in this forum and it only recommended 400W. However, the GPU requirements are 450W or higher. I know from past experience that you can get by with less than the GPU requirement says, but I want to make sure I'm covered.

Those recommendations generally assume the worst case (or PSU quality) possible. You'll be fine.
Also, h80i is way overkill for a g3258, unless you are pushing it to the absolute limit.
