Hi everyone,

I have found a PC that I'm thinking of buying, specs include

Processor Model: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz

RAM: 4GB DDR3 (1 x 4GB)

Graphics Card: Nvidia GT710 2GB

Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-bit

Will this be able to run dolphin smoothly? I will be mainly playing Super Smash Bros. Melee, so if it can run this without any problems, that would be great. I'll also probably be playing Mario Kart Double Dash and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, but my main concern is with SSBM.

Also, unrelated (sorry if this is not allowed) but would it also be able to play other games like Dota 2 and CS:GO on 'high-ish' settings? This is the first time I will be buying a new PC so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Your CPU is very good for Dolphin and certainly will run the games you listed at fullspeed. It may get little hiccups in heavy games (like The Last Story). I'm not sure about the GPU, it's not too powerful, while it may perform well in Dolphin, it may struggle in PC games, like the ones you mentioned...
CPU is good but the graphics card is absolute garbage.
Is this computer pre built? If so I suggest building your own, it is cheaper and you can get better parts for your money.
@Jhonn
That's great news if it will be able to run perfectly! Regarding 'it may struggle in PC games', it won't even be able to play smoothly in low settings?

@Devin
Yes, this is pre-built. I'm not that well versed in building a PC so I was browsing stores and found this.

I've checked out PCPartPicker too, is the entry level build good enough for the requirements I said in the OP?

That build is sort of weird. They included a decently expensive video card with a Core i3 and a fairly cheap motherboard(Newegg has it for 70). That i3 isn't terrible nor the mobo, but to me it just looks like a sort of unconventional gaming PC build, especially for the total price. We can definitely find you something better. That video card requires a lot of power compared a lot of Nvidia cards that can perform just as well, if not better, for less money with a lower power requirement.

What kind of budget are you looking at? There are a lot of people here(myself included) that are pretty tech savvy when it comes to hardware that can find you a great deal in your price range and get you the most bang for your buck.

This is something I just threw together in 2 minutes lol. In my opinion, it's a much better build overall and the total price is $698.97(almost $40 less). I didn't include a PSU or case because the link you provided didn't have prices for those and I wanted to give a price comparison for only the parts that had prices listed. PSU and case will tack on about $100-200 depending on what you actually decide to get for those. I used a power supply calculator and accounted for the addition of a Blu-Ray and 3 case fans, 500W should be plenty.

Edit: That wasn't the HDD I meant to click, but it's the same cost as the one I meant to put lol.
Hey shreduhsoreus

Looks like I won't be going with that build then haha.

My budget is $800, maybe $850, but $800 is preferred.

Thanks for the recommendation! But this costs a little over my budget as it appears to be in USD. I'm from Australia so those prices rise quite a bit.

If you're able to throw something together with this link, it will be greatly appreciated! (Parts are local so they cost less)

Edit: Please also include the PSU and case too, Cheers!

Edit #2: I'm not sure if the parts will all be less if you use the link I provided, maybe newegg is the better choice lol

Edit #3: Scratch that, just saw the price of shipping, please use the link I provided, thanks!
It didn't even occur to me that your original link had au. at the beginning of it, that explains why I thought some of the prices were high, it's because they're not in the currency I'm used to lol, my apologies. Newegg will probably be cheaper as far as prices go, but the international shipping is probably going to negate the cheaper price. I'll see what I can find for you on PCPartPicker.

I basically just modified the build you showed me to include a better i3(and it's cheaper!) and a slightly worse(but still plenty good) video card that is a bit cheaper. It's slightly over your budget($823) but there's a PSU that will work instead of the one I picked that is only $55, the downside is it's not 80+ certified and it is not modular. So you could technically skim a bit off the price, but you will have a big mess of unused cables inside the case and it's not energy efficient. There are some others that fall in between the two price wise, some 80+ but still not modular. The case...I just picked one that I thought looked cool lol, you can change that if you want to bring the price down too. Pretty sure any ATX mid tower case will do fine.

You legend! So what will I be expecting performance wise from this? I can play SSBM without any hiccups + the other games listed above low quality? What type of quality will this build be able to play on? If these prerequisites are met I will definitely buy this!
If you want the best bang for the buck, get this video card instead of the Gigabyte 660Ti:

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-vide...72652gd5oc

* Cheap as chips - only AU$ 169
* High quality components, built by MSI (Gigabyte GPUs = nothing but problems)
* Short length PCB. Fits into any case.
* 5.0/5.0 Average score from 8 Ratings
* Dolphin: Runs like butter
* PC: More than enough performance to run everything at 1080p with high to very high details (without AA)
