I hope this hasn't been covered, I did a search and nothing came up. The closest I found was this:

Quote:Anyway, if you do actually have a valid reason to need per-game settings, right-click an ISO in the game list and select "Properties". Many of the global options can be overridden there; By pushing the "Edit Config" button you can open the game settings file in a text editor and get full access to all supported per-game options (in a non-user friendly way). Unfortunately, the naming and usage of these settings isn't documented anywhere to this date.

I like to keep things organised and wondered if there was a way to edit the ISO List names? I've already found and tried what was in the quote above, editing the games settings file, but it won't open, I just get an error window saying: Couldn't find open command for extension 'ini'. I assume this is a problem to do with windows file associations, which is my fault as I use Portable File Associations app from PortableApps.com. But I don't know how to fix the issue.

Even if I can sort this issue out, will it allow me to rename the ISO names that appear in the List? Or are the ISO names somehow integrated into the 'Dump' and therefore unchangeable?

Thanks for your help

Scott
You can rename them by using a hex editor such as HxD.

Thanks for the quick reply. Could you be a little more detailed as to how you go about this? What file/s do I rename? The ISO's themselves?

Thanks again

Scott

EDIT:
That actually looks rather too complex for me! I was hoping for something like a simple renamer?

EDIT:
Attempted rename using HxD, but unsure where actual name is that needs editing in file? Tried first entry but didn't work.
Rename was attempted using F-ZERO GX.GCM.
You'll have to purge cache in View/Purge Cache for the gamelist entry to update.

Ok, still not understanding where I'm supposed to edit the name. I'm looking at Narnia - Lion, Witch, Wardrobe-NTSC-U ISO. Opening the ISO in HxD shows the usual info, but in the right column, which I presume is ASCI?, at the top is where the name of the game appears, but this ISO just gives this info in the first lines:

GLVE4Q......................Â3Ÿ=Narnia GameCube.

Then this at line 410:

..Þ8€(.`...........................X.*ˆø..i6..i6€>–À.,..VÙ€.....

Then just more code.

But in Dolphins list, the Game ISO appears under the name The Chronicles of Narnia. Where do I edit the name? I also did a search in HxD for the name that appears in Dolphins list, and tried editing that, then Purging as you suggest but that didn't work either.

After looking at the ISO properties, I noticed that the name of the ISO is the same as above, ie Narnia GameCube. Whereas the Short Name in properties is - The Chronicles of Narnia, which is the name that appears in Dolphins Game List. This is the name I want to know how to edit. Can it be done? Is there a reason it can't be done within Dolphin's properties window? It would be far better if that was possible.

Also, I tried again on a different PC and Dolphin installation to open the Edit Config but it still gives the same error. What exactly does this button do? Does it just open the relevant INI file in the Sys\GameSettings\ directory? Or the User directory?

Strangely, this ISO has files named from Star Wars?! Look in the Filesystem of the ISO properties and it shows files in the Ats folder called anakinsPod.ats, gasganosPod.ats and sebulbasPod.ats???
I found this which was sort of what I was looking for:
Using Edit Config
I also d/l the wiitdb.txt mentioned in the above link. Though it states in the link that Dplhin supports titles.txt, I assume wiitdb.txt is supported but may need renaming to titles.txt? I tried that but doesn't work. But I'm unsure where it needs to be located. Tried User\GC\GameSettings as well as Dolphin.exe directory.

So Basically I need to know where it goes and if it needs renaming?

Thanks for your help

Scott
Ok, I figured it out myself. The wiitdb.txt had to be renamed to titles.txt and placed in the User\Load\ directory. At least it works for this one game, I'm currently working away from my PC and using a laptop with a fresh setup to figure it out, seems to work so I'll give that a go when I get home in a few days.
Yeah, you've done it right. It needs to be named "titles.txt" and it needs to be placed in the Dolphin Emulator/Load directory.
Thanks for the confirmation Garteal ;-)
