wow, so every time I change a setting and restart the game, Dolphin crashes. I didn't realize until right now that it automatically switches me back to Direct3D9 whenever I open it. That really messed up my troubleshooting. I have no idea what was working for what and when and blah blah!

But I do know that scanning works fine so far without EFB to RAM. Texture's just fine. For everything else, I'm back to the drawing board.

I also feel I don't need more than 3X Native and have been using that setting or lower, if it makes any difference. Lower usually means better fps but as you know and as I've mentioned, trying to go for best possible resolution.
I think that here rests on a bunch of CPU + GPU. Therefore it is necessary to sacrifice image quality for the benefit of the game.

Quote:Everything else I made just as you indicated in your images. Unfortunately, having the Texture Cache all the way to Fast makes the txt in the game garbled. I have to keep it at the default. Should I try moving it more towards Safe like you had in your youtube video?
Try it and anisotropic filtering set to x1.

Quote:Also, every time I set EFB Copies to RAM, the color messes up terribly. Checking off "Enable Cache" helps a little, but what I get is some flickering between messed up colors and perfect colors all throughout.

This is not good. I have at any parameters EFB and textures do not deteriorate.
Download and install the latest drivers for your video card and DirectX.

PS: My config: C2Q QX9650 3000@4000 Mhz, 4 Gb DDRII 1066 5-5-5-15, Radeon 5870, 7x64 and he also sometimes has a drawdown of up to 25 fps

I updated my drivers (was holding out because my Windows stopped working last time) and it fixed the EFB to RAM color issue. Direct X has always been 11. Is there anything more to update there? are there different versions of DX11?

I think I noticed last time there was an increase in FPS once I went back to EFB Texture, though. Is there something to that?
DirectX
I think that is all that can be done. Your laptop can not give more FPS than already exists.
My game is stuck after choosing normal/veteran it says 100%speed and I see black screen with metroid prime logo...

You should use this build http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/source/detail?r=7324350dfc4b953c088a8b275cf5d85d8fe383ee&name=ES_LAUNCH

PS: People, read the topic carefully.

thanks, yeah I updated that initially. I've seen the game go as high as 63fps, it's just not very consistent, averaging between 25 and 50 depending on what's going on in the game. Do I just have a weak graphics card for this sort of thing?

On the newest build, using the DOL replacement method, my fps never drops below 35 but the emulation speed is inconsistent.

if you wanted to try a different build, you can use the DOL switching method found on page 4 of this thread: http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/showthread.php?tid=3792&pid=58342#pid58342

It's not as complicated as it looks, just make sure the keys.bin, etc you create is in the same folder as the exe.

Foxcor, what build are you using? Skidau's?
So I was reading a thread in a forum about PCXS2. There was a guy with specs very similar to mine (same GPU and CPU) and he was being told that since PCXS2 can't take advantage of 4cores, the clock speed is preventing higher FPS.

Is that the case with Dolphin as well? I haven't seen anything that mentions more than 2 cores. Could my CPU be holding back the capabilities of my GPU?

here's the thread I was talking about: http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Low-fps-with-fast-lapto

Thanks for being patient with this n00b

Yes.

On the newest build many errors is fix. It is not surprising that played better on the newest build.

Yes, in the Dolphin uses 2 cores. For better emulation preferably a high frequency of the processor. For fun, I spend exeperimental, running on a native processor frequencies and see what will be the FPS
Whats the best revision and settings to run Metroid Prime? Using 3.0-308 with dol switching method.

I'm getting slowdowns even though I have hd6850 and i5 2500k OC'ed.

My sensorbar doesn't recognize the remote unless I put it really close to the bar (maybe i need stronger batteries?). Candles work a little better but I'm still getting frequently disconnected with them making the game pretty much unplayable.

The sounds (HLE) are crackling pretty badly.

alwso getting error at startup: gfx fifo: unknown opcode (ox17).
means one of the following: emulated gpu got desynced, diasabling dual core can help EDIT: this worked, but now im only getting max 40 fps lol
command straem corrupted
uknown opcode
some other bug

Also, can I calibrate the remote on Dolphin so that I can point at the center of the screen instead of at the IR lights?

EDIT: and now it crashed

also i cant reconnect if i get disconnected or if i have to change batteries to wiimote. is this normal on dolphin?
