That's the feature-less Catalyst 14.50 a.k.a. the "marketing" driver:
* 90% of those new features are for one GPU only - the Radeon R9 285
* The new video playback features and improvements are for APUs only
* The high-end R9 290(X) gets the remaining 5%, with a crippled VSR as a "special bonus"
* Other GPUs (280X,280,270X,270,265,260X,260,250X,250,..) get NOTHING - *zero* new features for them !
For the real Omega drivers, go here:

Quote:The upcoming Catalyst 14.50 driver will bring performance improvements and tons of new features, including VSR (AMD's version of DSR).
I don't care about the new features. The most important highlight of these drivers is the
huge number of bug fixes.

Hence why I linked it to you!
Figured you'd be interested. NDA wasn't lifted today, so I'm guessing tomorrow we'll see some reviews.

Nice to see more 60fps video's. Did you record this with Shadowplay?
My 280x also handles this no problem at those settings.
lol yeah sorry about that. I was using emulated wiimote mapped to my xbone controller. Forgot I needed waggle for that.
Yes! Shadowplay is the best.
*Oh and encase there is any confusion from readers, this thread is in response to my old thread about upgrading, that I didnt want to necro. I was told that the 970 would have minimum results for me, but Not only mario galaxy, but also skyward sword run perfectly at 4x native now! (Not possible with my previous 750ti)...(At least not with anti aliasing.
Good to know I was going to get a compact PC for Wii/GC emulation and from these forums I gathered that the CPU is the one that does most of the work.
But reading your results I think I'll just update my desktop gaming PC.

i7-4790k.
Entry level $100 Z97 mobo (seriously, you don't need some expensive mobo, mostly the reason they're recommended is review sites wouldn't receive any more samples from the company of their other products to review if they said "This product is just not worth it for anyone other than overclockers trying to set records."
You'll be good to go.
You can go other cheaper routes, but with CF 7970s, I see no reason why you would gimp yourself on the CPU because I assume you play other games. You'll like the upgrade coming from that AMD processor you currently have which the i74790k will run circles around.

Also check out the updated Performance Guide:
Updated to v0.87:
---------------------------
* New driver
* Removed the OpenGL upgrade pack (not needed anymore)
Wasn't supposed to be a feature driver. States it's a fixes driver with like 200+ fixes I believe.
The "Crippled" VSR works fine for me since I don't use the extra resolutions the R9 285 supports, and I would never have purchased any of those cards you listed. R9 290 or R9 290x.
Next gen? R9 380x/380.
I don't buy midrange/lowend cards.
But there are performance increases for users on many games. HD7950 users have reported increases not shown in benching (since no one benched anything other than flagship cards).
The R9 280X isn't a midrange card - it's a "performance"-class card that's much better than the disappointing R9 285.
Users who bought a 280X gain almost nothing from this driver release - just the bug fixes.
Quote:I don't buy midrange/lowend cards.
Users of mid-range, budget and low-end cards are mostly happy with this driver since they also get some noticable performance improvements.
