that sounds exactly what i described, so not a zfreeze issue. just means i can't run them fullscreen.

seems to come and go in various builds. 4811 dirty doesn't do it but other stuff is broken like menu videos and level selection thumbnails.

Something that should eventually be added to the first post: phire posted an excellent writeup on how games use zfreeze at https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/1767#issuecomment-68199996 .

I was hardly derailing the thread i just said i couldnt get RS2 skyboxes to work and asked what options i needed to enable

This thread is about the implementation of zfreeze, not random issues users run into using builds that aren't even a part of master.

Sorry if I'm just spouting nonsense. Came across it and it looked interesting, but I can't make heads or tails of it. Someone's probably already seen this, but I just wanted to check.

could be, nintendo is listed several times but can't see any mention of zfreeze, where does the zfreeze name come from? i've tried looking it up on various search engines but always end up with links to dolphin.

No, it's just describing how near clipping and z compression work.
