how much of zfreeze has been documented?

and why hasn't the zfreeze branch been updated since 3.5? https://dolphin-emu.org/download/list/zfreeze/1/

last update was 1 year ago, i assume some work has been done since? or was it all stopped?

Hey guys, forgive me for being such a newbie on the forums, but I am a long time Dolphin user (pre 3.5) and I feel like I could be of assistance here. The games you listed that are affected--Rogue Squadron II and III, Mario Golf and Tennis, Blood Omen, and Hot Pursuit 2--are all games I own on my original GameCube. So I feel like I could potentially be a good resource here in that I can do testing in person. I also have a video capture card I can use to perform tests and upload the results for review.

Therefore, as this gets up and running, keep me in mind as a resource; I will continue to check in on this thread's progress and will be glad to assist in any way possible.
Me and JMC already qualify for all of those conditions. Tongue If you wish to help, just stick around and test games. It's that simple really. When something zfreeze related comes up and needs testing, just test it and report your findings. Don't expect testing to be brought to you, you need to seek it out on your own if you wish to contribute.

Not enough has been documented on zfreeze, which is why that branch has not seen any work since then. That's basically the whole point of this thread.

Here is an ingame pic of Blood Omen 2, the top section of the screen has this fog no matter where you look.

Hey neo, I was wondering if the diagrams I cooked up in this thread, concur with what's known about zfreeze?

That thread says nothing since it's just going off of what Dolphin's doing.
I saw on Reddit that phire is working on a new zfreeze hack.

Let's just clarify things.
It's a complete hack, it doesn't try to actually emulate zfreeze, it just tries to reproduce the look Factor 5 was trying to achieve using zfreeze.

It would still be really nice to have a 100% correct solution for accuracy reasons.
nice, but will the game actually run at a playable speed with working audio?
