No way in hell the i3 could beat that Pentium .
Btw your Athlon is ok , why do you even need to switch to those dual core CPUs ?
i think you better save more money to get i7 4790k or sth along that line
The power consumption of an overclocked Athlon is simply too high for me. Parents are complaining about the electric bill, you see

I also can't afford an i7.

Whoa, wait, wait. First you said "The i3 vs the g3258 is 60fps vs 60fps", "Why would I ever turn off the frame limit while actually using Dolphin?" and now you want FPS results so you can compare? Kinda controversial, huh?
Anyway, let's get back to Dolphin POVRay benchmark so you can compare, if you
switch to the second page of that spreadsheet, you'll see "Performance per MHz" ratio. Both G3258 and i3-4330 are Haswell processors and by looking at Performance per MHz you can see all processors from the same architecture are always very very close in that ratio, no matter if it's an i3, i5 or i7 (the same applies to AMD architectures as well). Seeing that, the only thing that can affect performance in that benchmark when using processors from the same architecture is the actual frequency.
Another site that run Dolphin POVRay benchmark is the well known AnandTech. And guess what?
They benchmarked G3258 in Dolphin, and here you can also compare the results with the i3-4330 that you keep saying it's better for Dolphin. The results? G3258 at stock speeds were slightly faster than i3-4330. G3258 overclocked to 4.7 GHz almost halved the time i3-4330 got. So, yes, G3258 demolishes i3-4330 in Dolphin

Consider that in the last benchmark we had, an i3-4130 (which is just 100 MHz slower than the i3-4330, thus a fair comparison) got around 9 minutes. A G3258 OC'ed at 4.4GHz scored a little over 7 minutes. Bump that up to 4.7GHz, and that translates into a lot of difference in performance.
The Pov-ray benchmark is very close to what Dolphin does in most games. Since the G3258 scores up with the top performing CPUs, it can play games at fullspeed that the i3-4330 won't be able to, which examples were given already.
You guys are making me facepalm so hard now. POVRay is not a game. No one plays or buys a rig for POVRay. Get over it. Either show me that the G3258 demolishes the i3-4330 or accept the fact that it doesn't.
How is it controversial that I want to see the demolishing that you guys say is going on? It's more controversial that you say the G3258 is demolishing the i3-4330.
POVRay is very, very closely correlated with general Dolphin performance, as long as you use the same revision for benching and playing. The only major issue it's had is that when Fiora put in a load of floating point optimisations, POVRay and a very small number of games got much faster, and most games didn't really care. All that changed, though, was a constant factor, so it doesn't affect the correlation, just it's coefficient.
You say this but no one can give me real game performance. Not one person has used anything other then POV Ray. How about giving someone advice based on actual games? (Which the I3-4330 can play just fine at stock)

* sigh *
POVRay show how fast the GC/Wii CPU that Dolphin emulates run. The same GC/Wii CPU that Dolphin will emulate to run GC/Wii games, so, POVRay being faster means that real game performance will be faster too. You're free to believe that i3-4330 is faster than G3258 for Dolphin, but we know it isn't, we showed you benchmarks you refuse to accept.
Anyway, I plan getting a G3258 soon, so I'll remember to get some "real game performance" results to you, even when it's not necessary, but I fell these results may open your eyes...
Tell me once where I said the i3 is faster for Dolphin. I said and I quote, "Get the i3 if you're also PC gaming. Get the G3258 if this is a dedicated Emulation Build."
Also another quote, "Demolishes? Not even close. It's better sure but the g3258 hasn't demolished the i3 in anything."
And where you saw me saying that G3258 demolishes i3-4330 for PC gaming? I agreed with KHg8m3r stating that an overclocked G3258 does demolish the i3-4330 in Dolphin and we have benchmarks proving that...
I never even implied that you said that. However pretty much everyone in this thread implied that I said that the i3-4330 was sooo much better in Dolphin then the G3258. I said if he wants to do something else other then Dolphin then the I3-4330 would be better.
