k so the fact that a 295x is 2 gpus put together wont have any negative impact then. so i can tell him he should be able to max settings on any playable game then?

290x pcs+ arguably the best r9 290 for overclocking besides the trix cards from sapphire right at the upper limit of your budget. It should almost be the same as my card at 1100 mhz if it overclocks properly.

Did I mention it comes with about 60 USD in free games.
If that is your budget I will tell you a second hand R9 290 can be had for under £200.

Although you shouldn't buy the reference R9 290 or R9 290X they're ridiculously loud. As deafening as a hoover :L
