Hello everyone, last week I bought an i5 4670k along with an MSI Gaming 3 motherboard and decided to try out OC Genie. It overclocked my CPU up to 4.0GHz and these are the temps I'm gettins, I don't know almost anything about overclocking so I don't know if these temperatures are good or bad. What do you think? Also these temperatures are taken from playing The Last Story
They are good indeed. At least IMO.
your temps are normal indeed. that processor is kind of known for the temps. what is your cooling solution? air cooling? watercooling? and what specific cooler is it? can't really help you if we don't know what you use to cool your processor with lol
Your temps are fine. You should keep going to 4.2/4.3 GHz. Do a stability test to make sure your voltage is high enough. And make sure the voltage is low enough not to reduce lifespan. Make sure you're stress testing with proper software, not dolphin.
You really should have gotten a 4690K instead.
I'm using air cooling, more specifically a Thermaltake Frio OCK and am able to run The Last Story fullspeed 95% of the times
Your i5 is a poor overclocker. You won't get higher than that if it's only stable on 4GHz @1.2V
I'd return that and get an i5 4690k instead.
Reality is that I´m not an extreme overclocker, in fact, I very rarely do it, I am able to play all of my games on fullspeed and if my processor gives me that it will be all I need. I won´t spend any unnecessary money if I don´t have to, if on future builds my CPU starts falling back I will then buy a better one. For now my goals are to get a better GPU and a bigger chassis for better cable management and more airflow, future plans are to maybe get a liquid cooler but for now another CPU is not on them.

Automatic overclocks are generally bad. There is an exception or two in existence but meh I digress.
OC Genie is selecting too high a VCore you can reduce that which will keep your cores cooler. I'm sure you will be stable at under 1.2 V.
I don't disagree with you but 1.2v is actually a fairly low voltage for that chip.

Maybe but knowing everyone else's luck in getting good chips unlike my recent build I'd say his will probably work fine
