Looked into it, and I seriously dislike the fact that there won't be a possibility to use Windows Media Center in Win 10. My well-behaving HTPC-PVR-setup relies on a couple of DVB Tuners whose drivers specifically work well with WMC (also DVB-C, which shouldn't actually be supported in WMC), and WMC is also a well supported backend for Kodi/XBMC nowadays.
So this pretty much rules out upgrading my HTPC to Win 10, unless I reeeally have to. My tuners seem to be supported in DVBViewer, but I'd hate to buy another software only to explode the whole (working) setup.

Keep in mind that Windows Media Center doesn't receive updates since 2009, including it in Windows 8 was a surprise indeed but old software is old software, so it's time to find another software...

Just buy a tuner that doesn't suck. Problem solved.

Valid points. I'm not THAT into WMC (or my oldish tuners (AnySee E30 Combo Plus x2)), but WMC uses its handy .wtv format. Why is it handy? Not sure if anyone is interested, but I'll explain it anyway, since it's quite cool. (_IMO_)
It all comes down to EPG and show metadata. Wtv recordings have the show metadata in them in a very easily parseable format (unlike .ts files). So I have made an AutoHotkey script that automatically compresses the .wtv files to .mkv files using ffmpeg (they take about 25-33% of the original size). All this would be ok per se, but browsing .mkv files that are like "Show Title_Channel Name_Hard To Read Date.mkv" hardly resembles browsing a real PVR that shows the show description etc. Parsing the .wtv metadata using ffprobe and AutoHotkey, my setup creates a .nfo (xml) file next to the compressed video file. This way Kodi shows natively the info (Year + Actors + Date | Channel | Show Description), just as a normal PVR would. And since a 3Tb drive can hold about 5000 hours of recordings, I basically don't need to delete anything in 10 years.
Doing this with another filetype? Not sure. I probably have to find out the solution in a couple of years, as while I can postpone updating to Windows 10, there are no guarantees that WMC's free and pretty good EPG (over internet connection) is going to work 5 years from now.

They actually have a cool new system where if you call from a smartphone, you can opt to get a text message with a link to a website where you can input the activation code instead of doing it over the phone call.

I have doubts it will be ready for prime time next month and it comes with Candy Crush, but I will be needing that middle finger emoji for the circus primaries.
