So I'm due for a phone upgrade soon, I've read that the S5 has and will always have pretty poor Dolphin support due to its Qualcomm chipset. Will the Note 4 SM-N910C variant perform any better with Exynos 5433 drivers?
I'm not expecting 60fps but just wondered if it will be even a bit better
My advice: *never* base the purchase of a mobile device on whether it'll be good for Dolphin or not. They're *all* shit for Dolphin, and they probably will be for another year or two unless Nvidia's GPUs start popping up in more and more devices. Just buy whichever phone you prefer – don't stick yourself with a massive phone with a stylus you never use for two years just because you thought it'd be any more capable of running a GameCube emulator than the more reasonably-sized phone was.
Also, yes, I've confirmed with our ARM guy (HdkR/Sonicadvance1) that the Mali T720 in that thing will still be severely CPU-limited by the GPU drivers, just like the Qualcomm GPUs are. Sure, the Note 4's got a faster CPU and slightly-less-shitty GPU drivers, but the only real difference between the Mali and Adreno drivers are a lack of visual bugs on the Mali side.

The Mali T760MP16 at 700MHz it's a strong gpu, near so strong as the Nvidia Tegra K1 gpu. I don't see the limitations that you talk. It's the most advanced ARM gpu of the actuality. With this gpu it's more easy to emulate the Nintendo Gamecube and the Exynos cpu can pass to 64 bit mode, with the Android L and the 64 bit implementation. The Cortex A57 Cores, of the Exynos version, is that could have more speed with a higher frequency.
Now according to what i searched in the net, the Mali T760MP16 gpu at 700MHz, it has a computational power of 505 GIGAFLOPS, more or less. THe Nvidia K1 gpu can have is more advanced apis, like in the case of the Direct 3d which has support for the 12th version. This gpu along with his Denver cpu can be used in Windows devices or even consoles and take advantange of his more advanced graphic apis. But this Mali gpu version it's also strong and competent for the Dolphin emulation.
Nobody is running their T760 in a sixteen core variant.(Which is what the MP16 is for)
Nobody is running their T760 at 700Mhz either, I think the highest I've seen is 600mhz.

For reference the Exynos 5433 is running an MP6 at 600MHz with roughly 120 GFLOPS perf rated.

There is one configuration of Mali T760MP16 at 700MHz. Search in the net. Even the less credible Wikipedia make reference to it. And if you search in the net, for the gpu configuration of the Exynos version of the Galaxy Note 4, all tech sites make reference to it and explain. The gpu of the Exynos version of the Galaxy Note 4 is with little doubts or none the Mali T760MP16 at 700MHz which give a total, i made the calculation, more than 549 gigaflops of computational performance. Go to the
http://www.pdadb.net is there that information about the gpu of the Exynos 5433.

Sometime ago i discovered in the net that the gpu of the Exynos version it's the Mali T760MP8 at 700MHz then is half of the full power of this gpu what is around 275 gigaflops. Even so it's a powerful mobile gpu.
It would have to be the MP8 variant. The MP16 is not feasible in a limited thermal and power envelope. They only need to match the S805 performance, they have no reason to max out Mali. Going above and beyond is not something mobile OEMs are good at.
