I was wondering if its possible to add the ability to calibrate the cursor positioning when using a real wiimote; Essentially so that the cursor actually aims where you point the wiimote and has proper edge to edge scaling. this would make fps games much more enjoyable akin to a lightgun experience.

I'm aware of workarounds using glovepie but that usually means sacrificing some standard wiimote/nunchuck functionality.

Ive noticed that cursor positioning and scaling is configurable in the emulated wiimote settings so is there a reason we cant get these same settings for a real wiimote?

It appears there were some settings for this in dolphin 2.0 but i was unable to sync my wiimote to test it.[Image: huh.gif]

could we have these options back? pretty please?
Those options were for emulated wiimote not a real one.

Good point. i just grabbed the wrong screenshot. here is the correct one.
Regardless, this would be a nice feature to have in the new versions to achieve near 1:1 accuracy for any games that require aiming.

It is 1:1 accurate? Seriously, there's no difference using my Wii or Dolphin when I'm on my computer since they both use the same sensor bar.

And yet again the IR pointer options were for an emulated wiimote, what you chose as source in these pics doesn't matter. There were there to deal with issues that an emulated pointer has and a real one does not (without a bit of tinkering in a lot of games you can't move the emulated cursor to cover the whole screen like on the sides and that's why they are there). And they still exist in latest dev in the emulated wiimote configuration.

@JMC47
Perhaps I'm using incorrect wording. The wiimote is working as intended and functioning just as it does on a Wii. I'm suggesting extra features that would allow scaling and offsetting the IR sensor information so that the cursor positions itself exactly where you aim, as if you were aiming a pistol and the cursor would line up perfectly with your iron sights.

Thanks for clearing that up i was unaware because i wasn't able to test it. I'm still curious if my request could be implemented or if anyone else is interested in this feature for fps games.
I don't think what you're asking for is possible, as the Wiimote handles all of that.
Idea: Get an IR lens (if such a thing exists, which I imagine it does for the high-frequency IR the Wii uses, and put it on the front of the Wiimote. As far as it knows, everything's now in a different place.

What he's talking about is an offset similar to the "above TV" and "below TV" options that the Wii and Dolphin offer now. Choosing one or the other can change where the cursor appears on screen, even when the remote and sensor bar positions have not changed. I don't think he literally wanted Dolphin to change the IR camera programming around so that the cursor would register exactly where the remote was aiming, he was simply asking for something like a more nuanced sensor bar position setting that would allow users to offset the cursor position in increments so that it could be adjusted to a more comfortable default position.

I personally often wish this had been a feature on the actual hardware, since usually the only option to control cursor position is to move the sensor bar higher or lower or change your seating distance. It would be nice to be able to sit in your most comfortable position and always have the cursor naturally centered.

If you have a NAND dump you can change the sensor bar position I think
