Press "Clear" to clear all settings, then select the dropdown and select XInput/0/, and press refresh just to be sure it's sticking to it. Then try to assign again.

today it decided to work for me
still need to fix a couple minor issues
it seems it doesnt understand diagonal inputs from the joysticks. aside from that theres just a bit of lag i need to solve
