i currently have an amd a8-6500, trying to emulate with this crappy cpu makes me wanna jump off a cliff.

anyway. i heard xeons are "close" in performance probably a bit under an i7 which im totally fine with hence a8-6500. the xeon has turbo boost to 3.8 ghz so im pretty sure its a beast. anyway i'd love to get your guys oppinion on it, its a lot cheaper then an i5 and an lga 1150 socket, so in my oppinion i think the xeon would be better.

anyway lookin forward to hear !!
No, that's an Ivy bridge version of Xeon. It won't be as strong as a 4th gen i3.

Get the V3 version of that CPU, its only a little bit more, and will be faster since its Haswell: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80646e31230v3

And an LGA 1150 board: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherb...7g41pcmate
aha oh okay thanks. whats the difference between the v2 and the v3 ?

or should i go with an i5 4690k ?
V2 is an Ivy bridge CPU, V3 is the Haswell version of that CPU.

At that price point, unless you need the more cores, then I second the notion of an i5-4690K, as it will run faster due to the overclock.
But if you need those HT cores, tick with the Xeon
There is not really much of a difference between the 2 CPUs. Just that one uses the newer 1150 socket.

i'm just stuck, because the xeon has hyper threading. and turbo boost, so it can go to 3.8 ghz. and if i were to over clock the 4690k, i'd probably only put it to 4.4 ghz.
I'd go with teh Xeon. Games are now starting to us more than 4 cores and the use of multiple threads.
I can only think of like one game that takes advantage of 4+ cores, and that's watchdogs

@fade2black001, for Dolphin purposes, Haswell has a 30% performance increase clock for clock compared to Ivy Bridge
That's wonderful and good to know. Also there are more games that uses up 4+ cores.

Crysis can use up to 12 cores. Depending on situation like BF3
BF4 uses 8
BF3 has been tested that can uses 12 cores at times.
Lost Planet 1 and 2 can supposedly use up to 12 cores as well.

This is all what I found but there are more games than just Watchdogs.
Good to know about those games Smile I've been playing too many emulators/consoles so I don't know
