I am currently trying to figure out a good Dolphin pc setup for a reasonable price.
It's supposed to be build around a mATX mobo.

I do have the following in mind:

-Moterboard: MSI Z97M-G43 Intel (Socket 1150)

-CPU: I5 4690K (Socket 1150)

-Case: Fractal Design Arc Mini R2

-GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 270X Toxic 2GB GDDR5
or
-GPU: GeForce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5

-Cooling: CM Hyper 212 Evo

-Drive: Intel 530 Series 120GB SSD (SSDSC2BW120A401)

-RAM: Gskill Ripjaw X Series 8 GB or Crucial Ballistix Sport XT DDR3-1600 DIMM CL9

I am open for recommendations for all the parts.

(I have no budget in mind, it rather is an attempt to find a good setup that's fitting into a small case)

I would gladly hear about your own setups, what you roughly paid for them, how loud they are, etc...

Price estimation with the Sapphire: ~710€ = 948$ (without shipping fees)

1 vote for CM Hyper 212 Evo . It's cheap and good stuff , the fan is also dustproof
If you have more money to spend then Noctua NH-D14 - the king of air cooling unit , it even beat some water cooling units from Corsair

Oops , I did not read this
Noctua NH-D14 may not fit but CM 212 Evo will
Perfect, I'll add all suggestions to the first post, so in the end there might be a good setup there Smile

Some ideas regarding the GPU?

Ps.: Is the modded laptop in your description sufficient for most dolphin games?

Edit: It seems that the suggested cooling unit is for socket 1155 not for 1150 as supported by the mobo (or isn't there any difference?)
Universal Socket Compatibility ...It will work with any socket on the market from AMD to Intel
So it's future-proof . It's not a quite air cooler though

Just cooling mod , nothing special . While it can handle the heat well , it doesn't have enough power to run demanding games at playable speed
CPU bottleneck

Depending on you . How much resolution , AA do you need ?
2x native and 8x AA is sufficient.
But I do not have a clear preference.
It should play all of the games that are currently playable with minimum price Smile
2xIR and 8x MSAA , right ?
270X will be sufficient for what you need
Sapphire is the best brand for AMD GPU . Your GPU choice is very good , I have nothing else to say
About SSD and Ram , I recommend Intel 530 SSD and Gskill Ripjaw X Series
Intel SSD's durability is top-notch , it also come with a five year warranty . I have a 4 years old Intel SSD , it's as good as new ( Intel tool box show nearly 100% drive health / life remaining)
Ok, is there any difference between amd or nvidia based cards regarding Dolphin?

I would tend to 8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport XT DDR3-1600 DIMM CL9 as it's about 20-30$ cheaper than your suggestion.
Nah , Gskill Ram is cheaper in US

No difference afaik
There is, but it's negligible unless you're on a really tight budget and will only be using the computer for dolphin. And even then it's not really significant.
