Title- most games run at stable 30/60 FPS on 1080p, internal resolution 4x native, 16x anisotrpoic filtering, anti-aliasing level 8 32 samples... all the enhancements. Even more demanding games such as SSBB run just fine, albeit on slightly tweaked setting (3.5x native, 8x filtering, less AA...) but SMG2 lags at the lowest resolution, no enhancements. I've included screenshots of my settings. What can I do to improve the performance?
There is no way you would be able to run SMG + LLE audio full speed with that CPU . Just use latest Dolphin which is 4.0-2593 atm and HLE audio

Thanks, that helped! Incidentally, if I want all games to run at max settings and 1080p, do I need a CPU upgrade or a GPU upgrade? If I do- which one? Also, what is the difference between HLE and LLE?
LLE audio is more accurate than HLE though it's more demanding as well
You have CPU bottleneck
Recomended CPU for Dolphin atm :
_i7 4790k + Z97 mobo . With 4.4GHz Turbo Boost , this i7 is the fastest CPU for Dolphin atm . Of course , you can OC it higher
_i5 4690k + Z97 mobo . THis CPU is a monster at overclocking
_Pentium Anniversary G3258 ($74) + Z97 mobo . If you overclock this CPU , it can beat i5 4670k in Dolphin Benchmark . Dolphin is a dual core application btw

Z97 mobo : Asrock Z97 Anniversary is a very good board for overclocking . It can push G3258 to 4.8GHz and it's really cheap ($90) . Of course , 4.8GHz will not be not a good idea if you want the system to last long . This board has Pentium Anniversary Boost : Turn on your PC and press ā€œPā€ to enter the selection page and choose the CPU frequency you would like to apply, Pentium Anniversary Boost will automatically overclock the relative components and boost the CPU frequency from 3.2 GHz to a maximum of 4.2 GHz!

If you want a decent high-end board then get either Asrock Z97 Extreme 4 or MSI Z97 G45

Thanks, but I don't think I will change my entire setup- is there any 1155 socket cpu that would be good? For example, would a 3770 or 2600 be good?

3570K/3770K will do the job. Overclocked of course :p

Thanks everyone, problem solved! Changed audio to HLE and (somehow) FPS doesn't dip below 50. Thanks for the help and suggestions, I really appreciate it.

I don't think so . Not even close . As he stated , he want to run all games full speed , not just SMG

Also keep in mind that Haswell is 30% faster than Ivy Bridge in Dolphin . An i3 4130 @ 3.4GHz is as fast as i5 3570k @ 4.4GHz in our official Dolphin Benchmark . That is 1GHz difference
i7 isn't faster than i5 in Dolphin since it's a dual core application . A certain i7 Ivy Bridge will be faster than your i5 Ivy if that i7 is clocked higher than your i5
However ,even an i3 4130 @ 3.4GHz is not good enough run all games full speed . So there isn't any Ivy Bridge CPU can do that
Btw , since he has locked multiplier i5 3470 , 80% posibility that it's paired with h61/h77/B75 mobo , not Z77 nor Z68 mobo . So overclocking would be out of the question even if he bought unlocked i5 3570k

Yeah, it is a H77 Mobo- when I bought my PC ( about a year ago now) I figured that my CPU would definitely be good enough for pretty much anything, and by the time it won't be able to serve as a gaming machine, it'd be better just to get a whole new PC instead of getting (by then) old Ivy Bridge processors that would be obsolete anyway.
Yeah , if you want a future-proof CPU for emulation , you better wait for Intel Skylake (late 2015 or early 2016) . Why ? RPCS3 (PS3 emulator) can boot a few games atm .
Wiki Wrote:As of a March 7, 2014 release, RPCS3 is capable of emulating Arkedo Series - 02 SWAP!, Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice, and some homebrew projects to varying degrees of playability,[1] with several bugs present.[3] The emulation suffers from low framerate, but the developers have worked to reduce the bugs present when emulating Arkedo Series - 02 SWAP!.[2] The release features little in way of optimizations, but one of the developers notes that the team is working on a PPU recompiler to help with the speed issue.[1]
One thing i know for sure , PS3 emu will not be the same level as Dolphin and PCSX2 . It will require a beast CPU
Sorry if this is off topic . Just my 2 cents...
