I have been using dolphin on this PC for years.
I played Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess about a year ago and I was able to play on 3x native with 60 FPS average the entire time. I never had any lag issues whatsoever.
I just updated to the newest version and every single game (even gamecube games) are pretty much unplayable. Crazy skipping and sound lag.
I am using the default settings, the only thing I change is the resolution to 3x native.
Thoughts? Ideas? My specs are:
Intel i5 2500k, GTX 560ti, 8 G Ram, Windows 8
Hmm, just reinstalled the older version I was using before (r7719) and everything is running perfectly on max again. Odd

That's because the newer version are much much much more accurate and fix a lot of bugs which will make it more demanding. The newest dev versions are actually very fast. You're using an extremely outdated version which is only fast because it is extremely inaccurate and filled with bugs.
Right, so there is no reason for me to play on the updated version then? Seems silly that there are no wasy to adjust the settings in a "better" version to make it run the exact same games that ran perfectly on an older version
The updated versions are more accurate, which comes at some cost of speed sometimes, but the devs try to balance it out with speed improvements.
You're probably getting a CPU bottleneck form the more accurate code. Your CPU is starting to fall towards the lower end of CPUs (in Dolphin) without being overclocked. Can you overclock your CPU more?
The games did not run perfectly. They were buggy and prone to random crashing that has been fixed. However, if you are content with getting better speed versus getting more accurate and stable games then you are free to keep using the older versions. But if you have a bug or issue, you'll have to upgrade to the new versions.

Thank you, that makes more sense. I can overclock my CPU, but ill prob just play with the older one until the devs balance it out with speed improvements. Thanks again
You can also try lowering the Graphical enhancements, as the GPU side has taken a big hit a while ago with the better integer math, mainly on Nvidia cards (unless you had a Titan or 780, which you don't, or and AMD card, which you also don't

). They say its been evened out with speed increases, but I can still feel the slowdown a bit and had to back down on the AA/AF to keep the same speeds.
So go to default IR/AA/AF on the old and new versions. If they play the same, then lower the enhancements a bit on the new versions

Doubt ! Both Zelda SS and Zelda TP are 30FPS games lol
Zelda TP Hyrule Field + EFB copies to RAM = Your CPU start blowing up

. Not to mention you need LLE audio for full background music , LLE is more intensive than HLE
Yeah, there are huge reasons to use the latest versions: You'll run into less sound and graphics glitches, less crashes, and less problems in general.
GPU emulation, particularly higher internal resolutions, has gotten a lot harder recently, especially with EFB2RAM. If you're happy on the old version, then I say stick to it. If you run into problems, you can always transfer over your save.
