I wonder if being at 6x ir will make a big difference in Vram usage. We need someone with a GTX 780(ti) or someone with a R9-290(x) to figure this out.
I can test that with my 5770 once I have Afterburner set up. I've never seen it reach 1GB on my card with my really intense Wind Waker settings (5xIR 4xAF 2xAA + hi-res textures), so it probably doesn't go far enough to need more than 1GB.
Hnn. How does Dolphin not use a lot of Vram when games like Skyrim would easily use over 2gb of vram with High res textures at 4k and Anti Aliasing? I think we may need a Dolphin Developer to help us with this Experiment.
Dolphin does not store very much in VRAM. A lot of stuff that would be stored on VRAM for a PC game either doesn't exist, or is stored on system RAM. Of course, some games use more VRAM than others, but it doesn't get too much farther than 1GB.
The main reason is basically that the Wii uses unified memory, so the CPU can change things that would normally be in VRAM on a PC. This means that things often need to be streamed to the GPU as and when needed in case they've been changed.

Already seen his videos. I could probably just ask him on one of his videos.

I can attest to this. I just built a new computer last month with the R9-290 and it runs like a beast. Liquid cooling and two fans anyone?
