Full Version: Will CPU overclocking increase performance by much?

So I currently have an Athlon X4 750K at stock clock (3.4GHz) and I was looking to know how beneficial an overclock to 4.2GHz would be. My GPU is a Radeon HD 7770 and my monitor only supports up to 1080p, so I don't think the GPU is causing any slowdown.

Would I see a substantial boost in performance going from stock to 4.1GHz? Or will I only see a minimal boost? I am aware that Intel CPUs usually have better single-thread performance, but I literally only built my PC a couple of months ago, so I can't really move to Intel right now.

Thanks in advance.

It will give you a boost.

Don't expect too much though. Especially if you've been planning to play some very demanding games
