the slow( incomplete) interpreter of rpcs3 can already emulate disgea 3 (a commercial retail game) with speed of 2-3 fps
dozens of game go into intro and many more are loadable.
A recompiler should increase speed up to 10x but acc to the devs it can go up to 100x because the interpreter is really messed up and unusually Slow!

So guys what do you think?
I saw a video of disgaea 3 before, and i am really really excited. It's amazing how quickly it's progressing.
Disgaea huh? Disgaea 2 was the 1st PSP game I reasonably emulated years back. That RPCS3 can emulate Disgaea 3 to some extent, definitely a sign Wink

Nice to see things picking up. Makes me feel lazy myself though.
I heard the hardware they were running on for that test was relatively weak compared to the upper end hardware we have these days.... I wonder how well it would work on a upcoming Haswell Extreme... Lots of threads to deal with the several threads of the PS3.

I doubt that a PS3 emulator can run at 200-300 FPS on any mortal computer with good accuracy, given that even Dolphin (emulates a weaker architecture) requires relatively beefy hardware to even get full speed in most games, and the PS3 is like 4-5 times the CPU speed, and the Cell processors... I 'm not "into" PS3 emulation development, but from what I know, it doesn't seem too likely.
Well, it probably helps that currently the games that work are very lightweight compared to many other ps3 games.
the power of hardware that is to be emulated isn't much of a problem but the problem is how alien/different the hardware is from PC..right? I don't know much about emulation so any dev can correct me..
BTW I think the ps3 is much more alien than the Wii?

I would not be surprised at all if it could be made to be faster than dolphin if they weren't concerned about it actually working right, and emulated as little as possible. The speed would all disappear as more and more stuff gets implemented though.

So where is the Emulator for the Original Xbox, is emulating a Pentium III more complex then emulating the PS3 Cell CPU.
Developers lost interest in the emulators, last XBox emulator to continue development right now is being worked on by one developer, practically in the shadows, and he doesn't even have downloads available for any of his changes.
