Hi, i recently reformatted my computer and i seem to not be able to run dolphin as well as before. I was running everything at least 30fps+ and 100% speed, but now, im dipping if anything happens. In any game that has anything with an explosion or some kind of effect my fps goes down to 2 and sometimes even crashes the game. I dont know if i installed something wrong, or what, but i really cant play games like metroid or xenoblade with this kind of stuff going on every time i shoot or use a move. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Im running a i5-2500 3.3ghz
Radeon hd 7850
Your CPU is too slow for the games you´re trying to play. Xenoblade and the Metroids are sort of demanding and demanding, respectively, so it´s pretty normal for you to get those speeds with your rig.
Anyway, light-weight games (like the Mario Party games) shouldn´t give you problems so check CPU and GPU temps to make sure they aren´t throttling.
WTF are you talking about, Xenoblade runs at more than full speed on an i7-920 @ 3.6GHz. Sandy Bridge is ~20% faster than Nehalem at same clock speed, so an i5-2500 should have no issue.
This sounds more like settings issues.
I followed the guide to max my performance, and im still getting the same issues. Not sure what else to do, why i posted here.
Do you have the latest graphics drivers? also post screenshot of your settings.
Yeah i have the most recent beta driver settings. I Uninstalled dolphin last night then re installed and i havent changed any of the settings, still the same problem.
First post screenshots, then if nobody can help try resetting your settings.
To reset the settings, go to "My Documents\Dolphin Emulator" and delete "Config", "GameSettings", "Cache", and "ShaderCache", then retest. I think uninstalling Dolphin actually does not reset the settings, though I may be wrong. Keep in mind that doing that will wipe all settings
These are the only 2 settings i ever touched, everything else i haven't messed with.

Try setting your Internal resolution to 2x
Alright, tried it, its actually better, but still get dips to about 16 fps everytime i shoot a missle in metroid.
