Xinput could be improved too like better hot-plugging support as i use a wireless controller and the Four Xinput Controllers to the Four GC Ports that are auto-configured, so you can add another controller in-game without going in the settings and refreshing.

My guess is enough of these systems are used in industrial environments where DOS & serial ports are still used. The printer port I have no clue. Someone still clinging to their dot matrix printer?
Should I be worried that I'll have to upgrade to a Core i7 Extreme seeing as the speed on Dolphin will only get slower on my 3rd gen Core i5 3570? Because I'm worried that Dolphin will get to the point of being unplayable on anything but high-end gaming rigs.
Dolphin has been getting faster in most aspects; we're in a transitional period where a lot of hacks are being removed before real optimizations can be made.
32 bit operating systems are cancer that never seems to die in the computer industry, please kill it with fire.
I support this but there will undoubtedly be those who will complain that never bothered to report issues or post on the forum. Those users in less fortunate countries with toasters and microwaves rigged together with carrier pigeons lol. Removing 32-bit could get them hot, they might explode and be driven to the point where they become delusional and take a leap while listening to that R. Kelly song from the last millenium..

The above is just a poor attempt at some humor.

Computing is moving towards 64-bit and 64-bit is the way to go with Dolphin. Not sure if removing 32-bit will yield any improvements whether performance or code readability but from what I've read so far the former seems highly unlikely. It's not like users don't have an option, either stick with older builds or get with the times to take advantage of any benefits that upgrading offers. Don't try to run Dolphin on inadequate hardware and an inferior operating system because it just isn't going to be an enjoyable experience.

I was curious about that aspect of how Dolphin's speed was going to be handled in the foreseeable future. I thought I noticed speed degradation in the in the latest builds in games like Brawl not looking quite as smooth 60 fps. Maybe I'm imagining it, but it doesn't seem as fast as older builds (I'm on a super outdated build - 4.0 243 for that reason alone, might need to do more testing). But I'll save that for another thread, and what you're saying is, I've nothing to really worry about as far as speed related issues anytime soon? Irrational paranoia on my part, I know, just needed some verification is all. What kind of optimizations are we talking about (JIT core, OpenGL API improvements, etc)?
Early 4.0 builds are probably the slowest Dolphin has been overall. Latest builds are slower on higher IRs, but at base IR, and regular settings they should be the fastest by far.

Does that mean I won't be able to increase the internal resolution at all, like, to even 1.5 times? Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the base IR look the worse (as in native resolution), which kinda defeats the purpose of playing on a modern PC doesn't it? If I wanted native res, I'm probably better off playing on a Wii. but that's just me. Shouldn't I be able to go 1.5 or 2 x IR without a problem with the framerate? Perhaps I'm spouting off nonsense, I don't know, but, native/base IR looks pretty horrible on a 1080p monitor in my opinion. Surely with the newer builds, 1.5/2.0 times shouldn't be problematic with speed. That's just weird to me. I was under the impression that one major reasons and advantage of using Dolphin was being able to play Gamecube and Wii games beyond 480i/480p resolutions, but now we're being told that using anything higher than 720 x 480 is counterproductive. Damn.
Uh, well, every game ever runs slower with higher resolution (not just Dolphin). If you're having fullspeed with 1x resolution, chances are you'll also have fullspeed with 2x. I can even play Xenoblade Chronicles at fullspeed with 4x (ok, with Tino's DirectX9-build, but still). If you have a fast PC, high resolutions won't be a problem for you.
